Agreed
Nice 996 GT2 and the GT3 RS due to rarity alone.
I am considering a GT2 i know there are a few knocking about on here for sale, some with dubious history i hasten to add and probably why they are still here.
The one at Henrys looks good value, i was surprised actually thought he had got it on too cheap!!
Would like ideally a Midnight Blue one to be honest.
As stated the GT3 RS and GT2 would be good appreciating assets long-term

The car at Henry's looks lovely and good value. The sports seats are a bit marmite but otherwise it looks great. Midnight is a great colour. Slippy's GT2 was midnight and that looked ace. Nice 996 GT2 and the GT3 RS due to rarity alone.

Must admit that MK2 GT3 H has in stock looks very nice!

I am still unconvinced about the 996 GT2 in general, though rarity should hold up the genuine Clubsports in the long run - especially the Mk2s. As for the 996RS, do remember that Spring is the top of the seasonal pricing for GT3s (correspondingly being the lowest supply), but even so I think that they are drifting slightly up now. I have never noticed straight ones dipping below the mid 50s even in the depths of a winter in recession and 60-70 has typically been the asking price for them for about 5 consecutive years now. Consequently, while everyone could continue to debate whether they are or will be going up, recent history would at least seem to assert that they simply aren't going down. Probably ever.I'd further add that for the 996RS I reckon that if you are really all about residuals, LHD is probably the better option too if you can get a nice one (AFAIK the 996 has the greatest proportion of RHD cars for an RS, whereas the majority of countries where it wasn't originally marketed {potential markets for collectors} like to sit on the wrong side of the car).
Also - as I have said elsewhere, Mk1 996 GT3 Clubsports are probably a safe long term bet (at a lower entry price point) if you can find a nice one too, and I don't see the Mk2 as much of a depreciation hole either.

I think GT3 Mk 1's and the without doubt the RS variant will be very safe bets, as we can see the GT3 Mk 2 have dropped significantly and isn't the favoured model for some reason, might be build numbers.
No as mentioned earlier the GT2 and GT3 RS will be good areas to have your hard earned.

Personally i think the 996RS became relatively too cheap compared to other so-called rare/special models which is why i sold my 964 turbo(3.3)to buy an 996rs..to me the price differential appeared to be wrong between the 2 cars taking age/performance/rarity etc into account..also as has been discovered previously with 911's just because a new model comes out e.g the 997 gt3rs it doesnt necessarily meant it is better/more desirable than the previous car..just different..so £60k for a low mileage 996rs started to look too cheap...doesnt a brand new M3/C63 cost that?£73,950 - 13,800 miles. I remember thinking this at the time! Alas I never had the spare dosh to do anything about it!I suspect the '6 RS is also a better ownership proposition than the '64 Turbo (in terms of maintenance etc)

I'd only buy LHD for investment if you have the money in a LHD currency. A 10% change in exchange rates could easily trim £6k from the sterling value of such a car. It could also easily add the same, but it's a brave gamble in the current climate. You don't stand as much chance of making a fortune on RHD but the risk is lower.

You could very easily hedge that risk if you are that way inclined. You don't stand as much chance of making a fortune on RHD but the risk is lower.
