Lapis Blue and Boxsters?
Discussion
I just thought I would ask the 'Pistonheads Collective' there view.
Off to look at a 2003 Lapis blue Boxster today, I think it looks great, but have
just shown the 'better half' a few pictures and she thinks the colour doesnt suit
the car?
Now I remember from years ago that dark blue cars were hard so sell (Doom Blue,I think
people used to say?) it that still the case for cars of today??
Anyway, the Boxster is Lapis with Black leather, I like it and if there is a deal to be done
i hope it will be comming home!
Thanks for your thoughts.

My 996 was Lapis. Stunning looking colour in the sunshine.
Before that car I never had a problem keeping my cars nice and shiny but the Lapis slowly sent me mental.
I progressed from sponges and chamois leathers to Zymol and microfibre cloths and ended up having to have it professionally detailed as a machine polish was the only way to rectify the paint. You only need to look at it to get swirl marks. I would need some persuading to choose it again!

oooh, this is a tough one!!
I didnt think this colour was so hard to maintain, its almost as hard work as black
by the sound of it.
The only hope is that it wont be my every day car and I dont mind spending time polishing
the car and if I use some specialist paint treatments such as G tech paint sealers I should hope that
the swerling from washing will be reduced.
So, apart from a hard to maintain colour, it's not the kiss of death then...especailly as the Boxster
is checking out as a good one!!

FWIW, I recall when the 987 first came out it was one of the two main colours they used in the brochure shots, the other being GT Silver. I personally thought it looked great in these photos although that would have been under unusual lighting conditions.
I also used to really like midnight blue but it does seem blue in general has dropped off the radar somewhat.
Anyway good luck with the purchase..
