Gents,
I have owned my 993 for a year, I have been told that engine mounts degrade with time and mileage.
My 993 has done 65k.
How can you tell if your engine mounts are knackered? Is it just a visual inspection?
Also should I replace with the RS versions?
Advice appreciated.
Cheers

Its a pain changing from first to second in my 993, the clutch is fine and changing to any other gear is as it should be. Could this be the mounts, it doesn't feel like a problem with the gearbox, more a clutch to drive take up and being careful doing it.

If your 993 has the original engine mounts then you can be pretty sure that they are past their best. Symptoms that I noticed on mine were that you could feel the engine move when you came off the power suddenly. You did have to be pressing on to induce it.

Once I had changed the mounts, the engine movement disappeared, the gear shift quality improved noticeably and the clutch take up was more precise. Also, the engine sat up a little higher (you could tell from the position of the tailpipes relative to the rear PU).

I don't know much about the RS mounts. Probably a bit OTT for road use in my opinion.
