All 4 boots on my Cayman S are pretty worn, and one has, seemingly, a slow puncture, so it's time to change the tyres. Was just wondering if anybody has encountered any good deals lately? I'm a member of Costco so will be heading there tomorrow to see what the damage will be, but thought I'd ask the collective if anything good has come up off the beaten track?

I'm not certain of what tyre I'll have yet, currently I have RE050's on it, but I'm leaning toward Michelin. And they must be N-rated, as I'm still in warranty.

I fancy a laugh, so I'm gonna mail my OPC too...

Go with the Michelins.............

You may be surprised by the OPC. I was surprised by the Audi main dealer who came up with a significantly cheaper price than any tyre depot for four new contis a couple of years back. Dealers in general seem to be getting more competitive in this area.

I doubt the OPC will be able to get anywhere close to competetive. I find generally, Costco's price per tyre to be a little higher than the best deals unless they have an offer on, at which point they become phenomenal value!

I bought my current rears from Costco (Michelin PS2s) during the 20% off offer, and it worked out at £268.79 per tyre, fully fitted. Amazing considering the best prices elsewhere were about £315 at the time.

Thanks gents - I've mailed East London OPC to see what they can come up with, otherwise I'll pop into CostCo tomorrow and see what's happening. I had planned to wait a bit for an offer to come on at Costco, but this slow puncture is niggling me a bit and I'm not sure what's actually causing it. On top of that it makes the missus very nervous that it'll suddenly lose pressure when we're on the motorway... I'll post any findings on here as and when.
I'm on 19s btw, so it's looking like at least £315 a corner. Ouch. And all with a wedding to pay for - though we're not having a Roller from the Church to the reception - I'm driving in the Porker, so it's sort of paying for itself. At least it is according to my man maths!

This place is cheap : http://www.f1autocentres.co.uk

I've not used them for tyres but had an MOT on my S2000 with no issues.

Currently 220 for fronts ( 235/35/19 ) and 284 for rears ( 265/35/19 ) fitted.

Prices are for Michelin PS2 N2, other N rated makes are cheaper.

Also worth trying Camskill although you have to get them delivered then find someone to fit them.

Kwik Fit (don't laugh) currently have 25% off 4 tyres. They were the cheapest for me for 4 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 N2s for my Cayman S (19" wheels) by some distance. ~£500 cheaper than OPC quote.

Haven't got around to changing mine yet mainly because I believe their deal runs until May.

edit: If memory serves the all in cost including fitting was a smidge over £1k

Thanks - can't get either website to show N-rated Michelin PS2s(Kwik Fit only shows N2 rated PS2s on the front, not the rear for some reason, and F1 doesn't bring Michelin up at all), but both have a branch very close to home, so I'll pop in. Cheers!

East London can't fit anything until middle of next week, but quote:

235 35 19 Michelin Pilot Sport2 N2 = £280.89 per tyre
265 35 19 Michelin Pilot Sport2 N2 = £373.60 per tyre

Total inc supply, fitting and VAT for 4 tyres = £1308.98

and recommend I have a geometry check done for a further £199. Does a geo check sound even half worth it? I'm inclined to think not. In terms of prices on the tyre, let's see what I can get elsewhere - I'd like to beat that by at least £100 total.

Camskill have stock of N2 Pilot sports at:
£214 - 235/35/19 inc vat and postage
£294 - 265/35/19 inc vat and postage
Add around another £50 for fitting and balancing and a good geo set up shouldn't cost much more than about £80 - job done smile

I have used F1 Auto Centres for my wife's Audi. They were the cheapest by far. The guy did a good job but I don't know if I would use them for my Turbo wheels.

I prefer to go to a place that has one of the newer touchless machines for taking the tyre off and on the wheel.

What is Costco like with regard to avoiding alloy damage ?

Try a spot of haggling at OPC I managed to get them down to the same price as the kwik fit 25% off deal at just a tad over £1k for all 4, and as my car has ceramic disks I am happier that the OPC is doing to be honest

Costco are running 20% off when you buy 4 tyres offer mid June. Considering they include valves, balancing and fitting there is nowhere cheaper including Camskill

Probably depends where you go and who does it, but my mate and I went to Watford and had a couple of guys who were really enthusiastic about our cars and treated them very well. They were happy to chat and let us look under the cars while on the ramp. Had no complaints, especially considering the price.

I'm looking at CostCo at Lakeside, so I'll let you know - I've had no problems when I used them before on a Golf GTi some years ago.

They didn't have PS2s in stock, but quoted around £1100 for four, fitted. If they can do that with 20% off in June, I may just wait - £900 or so for 4 PS2s is unbeatable as far as I can tell.

ETA - and East London OPC won't match the price so they're out.

I didn't get to go in in the end (as had to queue for petrol for bloody ages on Saturday morning), but online price is just over £1200 it seems - dunno if I could trim that if I popped in. If I'm going to wait until Costco's offer starts, I'll certainly investigate them and F1 Autocentres.

Bringing this back from the dead to point out that this deal starts today - I'll be popping in later. They will need to order N-rated tyres in, and the deal ends on 1st July so, if you are interested, don't hang about too long.

I'll post prices later, but as pointed out includes fitting, valves and balancing and, *gasp* nitrogen inflation. Woo.
