Trawling through the clasifieds idly, I spotted a 964 Celebration for sale at £28K. Looking more closely, it turned out to be the one I bought for £32K in 2001. Only one owner after me but a jump in price from when I sold it for £16K, to a trader admittedly, in 2005 (I think). Obviously had a few quid spent on it but it looks great and still quite low mileage (106000) so I reckon I should have hung on to that. Lets hope the GT3 does the same trick over the next six years - when it will be the same as the 964.

I loved that car but hated the interior colour and the seats. I didn't want to change anything though, and eventually it got the better of me and I bought a 993C4S. As is well documented by me here, that car was a total barge and despite spending God only knows waht on it, I sold it after 18 months. Heres the sobering bit though; I reckon that change of car cost me the difference between the two cars plus the money I spent on it so say £20K. I lost nothing on the sale but to think I could have kept the 964 and be only £4K down over eleven years, plus I would have at least £10K in my pocket. Ouch.

As I say, hopefully the GT3 will repay me for all the tlc (and barely using the bloddy thing.........)

Can you let me know when you plan to sell the gt3? As it would appear that would be the right time to invest wink

Plenty online SignalG plus try Adrian Crawfords site.

Great cars but good luck finding a good one. Plenty of people looking to make money on these at the minute.

There's a car in the classifieds at the minute for about £18k. I just missed it last year for £13k. If the current owner has spent 5k then fair enough but I'd want to check what's been done to add £5k to the price in as many months.

Loads of tat out there and by the time you have a few inspected at £300 a pop you can blow a grand before you even leave the house. smile

I reckon these are a very smart purchase, from a drivers, ownership and financial standpoint.

I havent looked specifically myself, but my understanding is that the good ones are taken.

It may be too late.

Funny that, it doesn't take long before the bandwagon rolls & all three of them are snapped up wink

Seriously they are a good car when right, but I have not seen a right one for quite some time, not that I see that many you understand. It's just that the average owner doesn't want to spend the money needed to keep them, when was the last time anyone has seen one that had it's tappets adjusted every year?

Why would you want to do valve clearance every year? Agree with the previous comment, most nice cars are with long term owners, and most will stay there

Hi Rob,
Exactly! Tappets every year!?

Had mine done at my engine rebuild 3years/ 4000 mile ago so will get them done this year but even they probably don't need it.

Great vid, I really enjoyed that thanks.

Anyway re the tappets, Im sure the book says every service, but forgive me if I'm wrong & it's 24k.

Mine used to get done 3 times a year with a mileage of under 2000 wink

Seriously though they are due every 12,000 miles, which would've been about annually when new.

Forgiven, as Marcus says its 12k. I would also suggest most owners understand what costs are involved and most are willing(although not always happy!)to spend it.

That Celebration Sir is a beauty. I absolutely love everything about it!

The only thing I would consider doing is putting "sport" seats in there, the additional bolster are beautiful to sit in.

Good point goose,
apologies porky specialist. I always forget that at one time these cars did actually cover normal miles per annum. Makes my 6 or 7k in 4 years look a bit piddly. smile

Markh - Another vote here to see some pics of your new toy. Bet your excited. Enjoy the drive home.
