I spent 2 hours today trying to refit the drivers side pollen filter housing. With or without the new pollen filter in place, I just cannot get the housing back on. I can't get it to line up with the groove on all sides.

What am I doing wrong? I thought that it'd be a doddle.

I can't help.... but someone once told me It's a bh of a job. Does it look like something else needs to come out to refit it ? I really can't recall but maybe that's what's needed. Good luck

I have had a look in the big book! That tab on top of the filter must be at the top when you put the cover back on. It will wiggle slightly from side to side but it must fit in the recess. If you look on the other side that I assume still has the cover on you should see it sticking out slightly from the closed cover. It will in effect only go on one way so no room for error.

It was the Big Book that led me to believe that I could do the job in ten minutes!!

I cannot refit the housing even without the filter in place. I can get the hole over the bolt at one end, but then there's a gap at the other end with the metal clip on it. Or I can get the metal clip in place and there's a 0.5 centimetre gap between the bolt and the hole.

Finally worked it out. With a cup of tea and and some concentration I carefully examined the housing. There is a slim channel that the housing needs to slide down. It will not fit unless the housing is fed through this channel first. Once i realised this the housing went back on easily I hope that this post helps someone else when they change their pollen filters.
