Broken down, help please

Hi, I am standing next to my beautiful 997.1S that is a bit broken. The RAC flat bed lorry will be at least 2 hours before recovery. However the RAC mobile engineer will be here in about 30 mins.
Is there a quick fix for a gear lever that has become detached from the gear box? The car is stuck in 4th and the gear lever is all floppy.
Shall I tell the chap from RAC to leave it or is it a quick job?

cable popped off?.. under shifter boot (have a look in car) or the other end on the box, you will will need to jack up the car o/s right side at the rear and look up infront of the rear wheel....?

Mine did that a couple of years ago. Not a roadside fix I'm afraid.

Quick fix under Porsche warranty though.

Thanks, RAC came, said "nope" and went.....
Now just waiting for flat bed.
