I've managed to pick up a pre-enjoyed Durametric cable. Its the older unit that will only work with the software V5.
Just wondering, before I plug it in and add another VIN to the limited list, what V6 software will provide over V5 on a 996?
Is it worth outing this one, and getting a newer cable?

You can do a certain amount of coding with V6. Probably not too much of an issue if you are only using it for diagnostics. V6 now works with 981, 991, Panamera and Cayenne 2011-on, so that's a big advantage if you are going to stick with the marque.

A big advantage with v6 is the speed of datalogging actual values - sample rate per sec is excellent.

But if you are not datalogging then it is not so much an issue for you.
