996 C4S............HELPPPPPP
Discussion
Morning Guys.
Wondering if someone could help!
I recently bought a 996 C4S with 29k miles and PSE. I have noticed that under accellaration the exhaust rattles and a vibration can be heard shortly after the amazing PSE noise has subsidide.
Now this doesnt happen when the car is idle or cruising just when revving the engine. I seem to think it could be the exhaust has come loose becuase the noise sounds like the exhuast is wrattling the bodywork etc.
Anything similar happend to anyone here!?

just spoke to the guy i bought the car off and seems to think that when i bought the car they left the flaps on the exhaust operablw but there is no switch so probably need to be set open againRatBoy M3CSL said:

..the default on start up is noisy, (PSE light off) but you can bypass it to set it to quiet all the time, which I am just about to do and se if it stops rattling..!
Really? That means the 996 is completely opposite to the 997, where the default is quiet (after the startup bark), the bypass makes it loud all the time, and there's no light at all unless you link it to sport mode, when light on = noisy :-oYou live and learn!
On my 997 - the rattle that I thought were the PSE valves - turned out to be loose exhaust tips - one with a broken bolt that had sheared off and was rattling up and down under the vibration!
I've now "unplugged" the connector so that it's "on" all the time!
