Just seen this............ http://www.autobahn.co.uk/home.aspx

A PERSONAL NOTE FROM LASH SARANNA - MANAGING DIRECTOR, AUTOBAHN
After 27 years of Living The Porsche Dream, my team and I will bring the curtain down on what has been a fantastic journey through all of our lives which has seen unbelievable highs and very few lows, so you could say a roller coaster ride with full on adrenaline proportions
Having started the project from a single one car workshop at the rear of a fuel station to a fully blown retail operation encompassing probably the best Independent Porsche Sales Showroom, Service and Parts Operation not just in the UK but across Europe with an array of the finest examples of Porsche cars spanning the range from the Latest Brand New mouth watering technological and cutting edge designs to the Legendary jaw dropping Classics that have built Porsche’s reputation as The Iconic Sports Car Brand that it is today, we have had them all and supplied them all over the years
It has been a pleasure to be involved with the Porsche Brand, a joy to know that we have fulfilled so many customer’s lives with joy as they have realised their lifetime dreams of Porsche ownership whereby we have seen customer’s buy cars and then their children to grow up and come to us to buy their Porsche from us so we have gone through generations of providing happiness to our customers, all delivered by us with the same enthusiasm and passion we had when we sold our very first Porsche 924 from our humble beginnings
My team with the backbone of the Staff being Paul, Nim, Charnjit and Sukhi have been the foundation that has allowed me to build an incredibly sound business which has always been based on honour, trust and integrity to serve every customer as if they were our first and last customer to uphold these ethics over the period of 27 years is a testament to all of them.
And now the time has come for us to move forward onto the next challenge in our lives before which I would like to put in writing my heartfelt “Thank You” to Paul, Nim, Charnjit, Sukhi and the other members of staff whom have been involved in our journey for the quest of “Perfection of Porsche Retailing”
As with every Ending, there has to be a New Beginning and so it is here that Autobahn hand over to PCT Cars, David, Nick and Simon, the guys who have been running our workshop operation since our move to the current site in 2003 have taken up the challenge of Porsche Sales and as of April 2nd PCT will Officially take over the Autobahn Showroom
Paul will remain as Sales Manager with the new set up for PCT, whilst Simon will be his right hand man with support provided by Nick and David to all our customers a seamless operation should take care of all the requirements you may have
It is onwards and upwards as both Charnjit and I take on new challenges to go forward with International Business of Import and Export of all Prestige and Performance Automobile Brands, Nim ventures into new projects in India, whilst Sukhi is keeping his options open as he considers Further Education and, so our lives evolve
I would personally like to thank each and every customer we have had the pleasure of dealing with over the years, without whom this would not have been possible

PCT I think has a much better reputation than Autobahn in their respective business. This is why I think they have changed the name. I suspect they want to compete with the like of JZM
I agree, I've discussed 3 or 4 deals with Autobahn over the years, both selling & buying, and was never very impressed. On the other hand, although I've never dealt directly with PCT, I've heard nothing but good things about them.carcrazypop said:

I agree. Twice been interested in their cars but their manner with customers and the pretty poor p/ex deal they offered on both occasions put me off. xftdr said:

Agree also. Some years ago I lived quite nearby and was looking to buy a Boxster, and had every intention of buying one there but I found them very unhelpful and uninterested in selling cars (I considered going back in with a bank statement to show I had the cash and was a serious buyer, but I thought 'why should I have to do that to get a decent level of service?')
Going back in with a bank statement? If you feel the need to show your balance to a vendor in order for them to take you seriously, then there are number of things wrong with both parties in the deal. Better to walk.Edited by drmark on Sunday 11th March 17:54

Didn't feel like that to me, I bought a 993 C2 from them about 10 years ago, the car was very badly prepped, worn out suspension components etc etc obviously the car was just put in the show room and sold with out even being checked over fortunately I had the resources to put it all right for just cost of parts but still dissapointing. They didn't really want to know when I informed them of the issues at the time, I cant remember exactly what the out come was but it wasn't ideal. The best bit was when I sold the car back to them, they sat me down in their show room and promptly handed me a carrier bag full of cash! They said it had just came from the bank, I just counted the £1k bundles to ensure the correct amount was there as it was busy and didn't want to be sat there counting the money in front of 4 or 5 punters looking at cars. I was so embarrassed, when I got home I counted it out and the sneaky sods had taken £100 from 4 of the bundles so I was £400 down. They didn't believe me and after weeks of arguments and so on I think they ended up sending me £200 as a 'gesture of good will'. Really I hadn't a leg to stand on as I should of counted it there and then, you just wouldn't expect it of a supposedly professional outfit.
Needless to say I would never go back and I was appalled at how the situation was handled, obviously in today's day I wouldn't accept that sort of cash as payment!

I've looked at a couple of cars there over the years, always, always, described as immaculate original examples and get there to see utter pieces of tat, tarted up (badly). They really kippered up a mate on a 993 convertable, I advised him not to get it without and independent inspection - he didn't listen and ended up with lots of bills for work that should have been done on the car prior to any sale from a garage.
Things can only get better........

Bought out by PCT.
I'm surprised they didn't keep the Autobahn name as it's established!
I don't know the details, but I would suggest that "bought out" is probably over stating the situation. I would guess PCT just took over the lease for the showroon and bought some or all of the used car stock. What else is there to buy? PCT have an excellent reputation in their own right.I'm surprised they didn't keep the Autobahn name as it's established!
pp
I also had dealings with Autobahn about 6 or so years back, I dealt with the main man but there was loads of shiftiness & fibs going on from his end. Left a stail taste back then and comes as no surprise I'm hearing similar stories from others.
PCT on the other hand seemed a good, no BS bunch of guys and I've heard lots of good things from others.
