I got rather excited by the Octane article on this auction, with a small pic of that 968 Turbo RS describing it as a Turbo S (1 of 16 IIRC) and a "guide price" of $45-55k. I was all ready to get stuck in to the bidding tomorrow, sure that I had spotted a car that would only increase in value dramatically! Sure enough, by the time I registered it had morphed into a Turbo RS at ~$350k! Foiled again...

They do have what looks to be a very good 968 Turbo S recreation at ~$50k, but hard to work out if it is worth that much.

I can never understand collections that only contain one manufacturer, but I guess we're not all the same!

Each to their own when it comes to somebody collecting anything really. When you have the money to own more or less any vehicle or any amount of vehicles, you may well end up focusing on a limited type. With unlimited funds, I think I would find it hard not to buy any car I liked, regardless of age/provenance/model!

I did a bit more digging on the 968 Turbo S recreation and it looks like a very well built car indeed. No reserve either - beginning to regret not putting in a bid!

Indeed, have a collection focussed on quality over quantity, then you might stand a chance of driving each car regularly.
