So cold tyres, too much speed and then wet grass = this;

So that's where the profile pic came from, i wasn't parked more beginning a rail-slide and the photographer happened to be on the bend.

Did you get it sorted or was this very recent, also did you have to pay anything for barrier damage?

Looks like the Armco saved you from a very solid looking tree!!

This was last year and the car was a Cat D write off, the Porsche approved repair centre quoted 25K to repair it.
And I didn't have to pay for the barriers, it would of been expensive at the ring!

Thanks , we were completely fine, which makes me wonder how so many people get whiplash in low speed shunts, when we were fine after this?

Though if we went over the barrier into the trees it would have been different.

Cheers, shame about the car but at least the flesh and blood inside was ok smile

Was just curious about the barriers as I've done a few track days and never really noticed if the TD insurance covered that sort of thing or not.

Perhaps the impact speed wasn't too excessive as not obvious that an airbag (or two) was triggered? I once stopped a few meters short of the armco at Snetterton on wet grass (exiting Coram) and counted myself extremely lucky. Your grind along the armco would have won you extra points at the skate park!

Kudos for being honest about it. A lot of similar incidents seem to get immediately covered up, only for the car to reappear later advertised as "unfortunately cat D due to light front end damage".

All great thanks - though now riding to work, rather than driving biggrin

Is the PJA plate on your new Impreza? I'll look out for you!

No I had the Imprezza as well already, so the plate has gone on retention until I find the right GT3.

Looks very scary, at least you seem to be OK about it and you aren't hurt.

You never suffered whiplash because from what i can see, the energy of your crash continued till it eventually came to a slow hault itself.
Whiplash generally occurs when you hit a stable object or a moving object and it brings your car to an abrupt stop, forcing your head forward till the stop, then the reverse of head at the same speed!!!
Newtons Law!!
Hitting the tree at any sort of speed could probably have been the worst outcome, possibly killed you, as the tree flexes then sends the energy back through you!!

So very lucky escape i'd say.

I'm on the lookout for a second-hand 996 turbo gearbox, don't suppose you could point me in the direction the car went to be "distributed" to the needy ?

I do believe it lives again, I sold the salvage to a Porsche breaker who repaired it, I've not seen it for sale though.
