Where to hire a 997 C2S?
Discussion
Before starting my search I wanted to hire a 997 C2S (manual) but I am really struggling to find one, has anyone got any ideas, most that are available appear to be cabriolet and tiptronic.
I really want to have a good poke around the car in my own time, check it fits the garage, show the wife etc.....I don't think I am going to get that opportunity on a demo

You never know. Just try your local OPC and if you seem serious about buying.......
Porsche once lent me a 997S for 24 hours just to entice me back a year after selling my Boxster and other dealers have offered me day to weekend use of cars when I have said that I need to see how the new purchase would fit in with my life ie school run, parking, commute etc.

Interesting post and I hope you find one. Let us know if they do Caymans as well.
I reckon if dealers in general were to allow prospective buyers a lot more time test-driving and getting to know a car, then they'd sell more cars. It would cost them more time and petrol but I reckon in the long run (no pun intended) it would be worth it.
I can't make my mind up after a 10 minute test drive and I'm afraid to ask for longer.

I can give it a go but I expect they will be less interested in doing that for a buyer looking at used cars
You can only show that you are genuinely interested and just ask. I called a BMW dealer the other day to ask about R1200GS motorbikes and they said come on down and we'll get one out for you. When they handed me one, I said that I would be back in half an hour and the salesman said not to be daft as there would be no way of getting to know the bike in such a short time.
He gave me the whole day.
That was perfect as I got to use it on motorways, A-roads and B-roads and even took it into Central London to see what it was like for town riding and took it home to see if I could get it in my front garden (I couldn't).
Good work by the salesman as I am now almost sure that I will buy one soon.
Best tactic to show that you are really considering a certain model is to tell them that you need to evaluate the car for a decent amount of time and would they know anywhere that hires out said model.
As you are happy to pay for a rental it will show them that you are genuine and make them more willing to lend you a car. The other thing I do is approach the head office first.
I approached Jeep UK to see if they had any new 2011 old models left in the UK. They didn't, but they were happy to let me have the latest model for a weekend. Unfortunately I have been too busy to take up their kind offer plus I don't want the latest model.
Let us all know how you get on.

You could try Avis Prestige. Their website shows 991 versions but they might still have something out the back from the 997. I used them in Germany too.
