do all "modern" centre caps fit most wheels?

With the plethora of wheel centre cap part numbers, do all recent centre caps for 996, 997, 987, etc fit all wheels from the same range. I accept that GT2/GT3 may be different and Cayenne may be different, but eBay is full of ads for 996 and 997 wheel caps.

a lot of the ebay ones are inferior to the originals when examined closely

also some of them are a bit smaller and do not fit into the wheel as tightly - very noticeable on some I have seen: could imagine losing some

So a set of centre caps sold as used genuine Porsche from 997 Turbo should fit a Cayman (aesthetics aside)?
