Hi all,

I've done a bit of searching on here, but can't find much info on extended warranty costs (mainly) and essentially whether there are any deals to be done.

Basically, my Cayman S is coming up to it's first 2 year service. I'm also going to extend the warranty on it with the OPC for peace of mind (and there don't seem to be any good Indy warranties available near me)

At the moment Leeds OPC are quoting:

£480 - 2 year minor service
£150 - brake fluid change
£979 - 1 year warranty + porsche assist and the 111 point check (reduced from £1045 already on the phone)

So, that's a total of £1609.

Now I don't mind paying this if it's 'roughly' the going rate, but I was just wanted to check I wasn`t being bent over on the costs and whether I should trying to get a better price based on others experiences.

Thanks in advance for any help

You can definitely get those service costs down.

On my last service (which you can read in my ownership log in my profile) I got £50 off brake fluid change, £125 off for providing my own oil (oil that I had bought earlier for £58 so £67 saving in total), 10% off the total for the work for PCGB membership and the 111 point warranty inspection free of charge. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to negotiate some sort of discount without much trouble. It's worth calling another OPC to see what they will do if Leeds object at first, then calling back and playing the quotes off against each other.

I found that they won't move on the actual warranty price, but it does work out as slightly better value to go for 2 years, then you also don't have to worry about another inspection before renewing the next year. If you don't want Porsche assist breakdown cover they should allow you to remove that and bring the price down.

ETA: That was OPC Hatfield

Cheers for the replies. I think I'll push them a little more and see if I can get it down to the 1500 mark - I'd be happy with that. Will let you know how it goes!

Speak to new Service Manager. Do 2-year warranty to reduce costs next year. Do drop PA if you've already got cover from elsewhere. Drop car off but tell them you can't get back for it until 5 days later. And that it would be really helpful to have that brand new loan car for the period! biggrin

Hello,

@OP. In the end, whom did you go with, and if its not too impertinent, how much did it cost?

TIA smile

I still can't believe OPC's charge £150 for a brake fluid change! bandit And the OPC who serviced my car (before I bought it) didn't even open and bleed the inside nipples on all four calipers! mad
