As posted on DDK

[quote="KS"]Probably one of the best-known 356s in the UK (for all kinds of reasons!), Del's 'Streamliner' 356 coupe was stolen last night from his house in Farnham.

It is chassis number11176 – a Reutter-bodied 1952 coupe modified with full Le Mans-style fender skirts all round, louvred rear quarter window inserts, through the bonnet fuel filler, etc. The Police haven't even come round to see him – they say there's nothing they can do but hope it gets picked up the the ANPR cameras (what a f+++++g joke). It's probably on a boat, or on a remote farm, but it will resurface sometime, surely?

It disappeared sometime between 9.00pm Monday night and 8.00am Tuesday morning (today).

PLEASE tell everyone and keep your eyes and ears open. Del's owned this car for ever... His number is 01252 726731 - mine is 01208 871490

Who would want it ? It'd have to be someone with a pretty large beard.

Hope it turns up soon, anyway.

Wow. What a pointless thing to steal, when it does resurface, it will be sure to be seen and reported. Police, what a joke.

All the best of luck finding it.

I'd be tempted with a road trip around Romania ala Topgear, seems a lot of stolen to order cars end up there.

hope everyone keeps their eyes open. Hard to believe anyone could get rid of it / hope to hide it forever. Presumably going abroad.

How about this! Delwyn has just called – the Police have found the car!!!! It was reported by a 'member of the public' as sitting in the corner of a quiet car park on an estate a few miles away, covered over. The cover had blown off it, so the person called the Police to say that there was this car just sitting there. We think whoever stole it, tucked away to keep watch to see if there was a tracker fitted... No more details yet – Del can't get the car back until the SOCO has done his stuff, but he wants to thank everyone for their concern, help and words of consolation.

What a great end to a horrible tale. Drinks all round tonight, then!   everyone

Excellent news. And of course now the thieving scrote will assume it has a tracker as the Police turned up and recovered it...!

More to the point, let's hope they don't go back to have another go later.

Seems an odd thing to do, you would have thought that they would have left it somewhere really obscure so there would be no chance of it being found by accident.

Hooray good news, they might have thought a Tracker was fitted. So leave it for while then come back.

Great news!

Just hope the thieving scum have left some evidence and are soundly beaten! punch

Though I'm sure even if caught, they'll just get a slap on the wrist. mad
