Well after a few weeks of family disasters including the wife's dad passing away today we took the plunge and ordered a new Boxster S from Porsche Leicester for June delivery, life certainly is about ups and downs!

So the specification is as follows: -

Porsche Boxster S in White
Black leather interior
Roll over bar in exterior colour
Mesh wind deflector
Bi-xenon lights
Park assist front and rear
Electric mirrors
Dimming mirror with rain sensor
Porsche torque vectoring with locking rear diff.
PASM
Sport chrono pack
Power steering plus
Sports tail pipe
20" carrera s alloys
Tyre pressure monitoring system
Black wheels
Heated seats
Heated steering wheel!
Cruise control
Light design package
Adaptive sports seats plus
Multi function steering wheel
Bose sound system
PCM
Porsche crest embossed head restraints

Yes we went slightly OTT and I'm not 100% sure where all the monies coming from, but after the last few weeks you realise life is for living and you never know what is around the corner so sod it .....

Looking forward to June smile

Nice spec. Not sure I would have bothered with the power steering plus and I have had the adaptive seats before and found that after a few days of messing with them the novelty wore off. In my latest CS I went for the cooled seats instead and use them much more. When you mention electric mirrors are you talking about the option to have them fold in? unless you have a tight space to park in I wouldn't bother with that either. Do the wheels include the coloured centres?

Yes fold in mirrors.

We decided against the ventilated seats as at £600 it seemed a little pricey for something we couldn't begin to understand what it did LOL!

And Yes with the painted wheels you get the coloured Porsche crest included.

An yes the lights are PDLS smile

Hey don't worry about giving points of view we still have time to tweak our order if we like, I won't take offence I'm no Porsche options list expert and it's not like we can try the car out LOL!!

It's given us something very positive to look forward to in June smile

Congratulations on your order. Know exactly how you feel. My father is in his last days of cancer and you see how fragile life is. Fortunately he always lived by the motto that life is for living. Condolences to the family and glad you all have something to look forward to. Enjoy it every day

Full credit for buying something on impulse, I've never managed to do it as I can never get to terms with immediately losing the entire value of extras that are of no real benefits.

Wow, big spec, sounds like you ticked almost every box, should be a stunning piece of kit, and as others have said, good on you for living life.

Way too many here worried about deprieciation and the right stickers under the bonnet, and careful you don't drive it, it'll blow up because its a Porsche, and even though its new, get Peter Morgan to inspect it ... you never know ..... etc etc etc

I got a Porker after my wife failed to survive cancer. She would have loved it, but I said, expensive servicing etc, and we didn't buy in her time. Stupid.
Just do it! NO second chances.

Nice!

I just went into an OPC an ordered a 987 back in 2005. Completely impulse and didn't tell the wife for 3 months of the 5 month wait.

Alas I no longer have it and the business has turned to crap so it just shows you that if you can, just do it.

Enjoy biggrin

Yeah i missed the bit about the black wheels, once noticed I knew that the coloured centres were included. The cooled seats have fans in them that work on three settings and distribute cold air around the seat base and backrest for comfort in summer. They draw moisture away from clothes so if your shirt is a bit damp in a few minutes its dry. I have had them on a few cars and find I use them more than I ever did the contoured seats.

I have a heated steering wheel on my Cayman S. It doesn't work as well as previous ones have done on Jags and Mercs, when you get it check that it heats to an even temperature all round as mine is 10 degrees cooler at the top than it is at the bottom but Porsche say it is working fine.

Andy it looks like it'll be a lovely car, but one suggestion that you may want to think about, especially under the circumstances that led to its purchase-

Factory collection smile

They fly you over, put you in a nice hotel give you the car at the museum so you can have a look around there & give you lunch, what's not to like?!

I've never ordered a new Porsche (& maybe never will) but if I did, knowing I would probably only ever do it once, this would be on top of my list.

We did consider factory collection, however we are going to the Porsche museum in April as part of the GTROC euro road trip so we thought we wouldn't bother but it does sound like a great way to collect your car mmmmmm???

It is a great thing to do and now the Boxster is actually built in Germany then it isn't a scam in the way that it used to be when they flew your car from Finland and presented it to you at a factory making 911s

yes Never done it either, but definitely would. Don't rush back either, have the week off and enjoy the car - it's so much easier to do on the continent too.

Spec sounds great, I'd just suggest adding Bluetooth if it isn't included already.
