I know this has done before, but I am struggling with search and I want a quick poll of the Porsche experts.

I want to replace my Audi and my Tuscan with 1 car as a daily driver, shortest journey would be 12 miles but generally longer with business trips being circa 2 hours each way minimum.

I like the sense of occasion and the performance of the Tuscan, but whilst it can be used as a daily driver, its not quite flexible enough. The 911's rear seats though tiny are useful, as is the service interval and overall servicing cost which is about half of the Tuscan.

So I want reliability and fun, performance feel to match the Tusc. I am trying to avoid the fast company car feel, but may have to tolerate that. I will also have to park the car at stations on occasion

So 997c2s or 996tt Budget will be about £30k

Doesn't need a huge debate as I am aware of the various issues with the cars so a simple vote would be great.

Ta smile

996 Turbo is looking a bit old, dash is horrific also and that's what you'll be looking at. Head lights are ridiculous. That said I love the 996 GT3.

997 S is a fine handling, hot looking piece of machinery!

Very surprised by the voting.

997 will also be cheaper to run.

997 C2S as its a better place to be on a longer journey, not driven a 996TT but I expect it will be a match in terms of performance for the Tuscan. But if it was me (and I hope it soon will be) I would take the power defecit and go with the more modern 997.

996TT would get my vote - it's my daily driver, along with my Tuscan.

I'm sure the 997 is a slightly nicer place to sit, but the 996TT doesn't compare with the Tuscan for performance (or at least the sense of it), so the 997 is going to be another step closer to the Audi, which I suspect you don't want!

Your suspicion is correct.

Sometimes think the interior thing is a bit like going into a watch shop.

Put cars side by side and you'll have a favourite on looks, but take one on it's own and your sure to enjoy it.

I think the 996 turbo interior is nice if in a good colour (black or dark blue) and in good condition.

I like the headlights and vents again certain colours are better than others.

Both are great cars but the extra performance and reliability of engine put the 996 turbo in first place for me.

If you're looking at the dash whilst driving the 996, you're not doing it right.

997 a step closer to an A6 tdi? Really? The 996 is really starting to age now - interior of the 2005 Turbo S that parks round my way is looking decidedly dated and I wouldn't swap mine for a 996TT no matter how fast they go. I'd also be wary of big bills (hard to find a996TT to warranty).

I thought a 996tt would leave a Tuscan standing in a straight line? On a track a C2S would be considerably quicker, I've also seen a standard C2S run a 12.8 at the pod, most tivs struggle to run lower than 13 seconds... I guess It depends on your definition of performance, have owned a tvr I know they "feel" quick wink

Tuscan is 0-60 in 4.2 or 3.8 for an S. Mine is up on power from a standard but not quite at the level of an S. So the 996tt and Tuscan are similar. Tuscans at Santa Pod are around 12.25-13.00.

I haven't driven a 997 yet, but the 996 turbo feels as fast as the Tuscan but the whole experience is so different its hard to tell apart from stats on paper.

Hmm, lots of test driving to do smile

Sorry a C2S is closer to a Diesel Audi Estate than a TVR Tuscan? Seriously - you need to go and drive both .... laugh

My view is that the 996TT is of course faster, but the 997 C2S stops just as hard, corners just as well (possibly better in the right hands), makes a great noise with PSE asnd is much more comfortable on longer journeys. Equally, unless you're on an arrow straight road - the C2S will cover the ground faster than a Tuscan as it can corner harder and brake much, much later .... whistle

I chose a C2S as my money bought a much newer car . A thousand miles in and I still feel chuffed to bits!

These can be retro fitted as the points on the chasis are still there. If you want it for kids and they are in boosters, you don't need the seats, just the belts - I was quoted £400. Job done, poll closed

Really! That's great news. Kids are too big for boosters, but for a short trip I could fit one child in the back etc. I need to have a closer look at 996 GT3's, will they be in budget at £30k and are highish miles a no no?
