Morning!
I like the colour, X50, manual, miles and PSH - new to this, so appreciate any views...

Have you come across this car?

Cheers

Looks nice although you would have to mremove the S badge straight away.
I have a 2002 X50 and it is fantastic, it does everything so well i can't think of anything else i would buy for the money.

Lovely car, lovely colour it is just that ruddy grey leather I really don't like but that is each to his own.

I love the colour inside and out. Just get an inspection on the car before buying it.

Colour is personal choice...

Aside from that, definitely GET AN INSPECTION. I have driven past this dealer many times they often have a couple of porsche out there on the forecourt (never seen them with a turbo, usually boxsters up to 15k) - but they are not a porsche specialist as far as I am concerned. Inspection is 100% important.

deposit after inspection - Peter Morgan is quite good I've heard. You should see it first yourself to make sure there's nothing glaringly obvious. ie it does have a FSH etc, and drives well. Use the inspection to get the price down or items that need replacing sorted

Agreed - I would put a refundable deposit down, subject to inspection (in writing), after you have checked the car out for yourself.

Most reputable dealers will agree.

You don't want someone else buying the car whilst waiting for the inspection to be done.

If it was me, I would look to have them take the car to Ray at Northway or RSJ for the inspection. They can put it up on a ramp and also stick it on a diagnostic computer. If there are any issues, they will also be able to tell you the cost to fix them.

Agree with this.

RSJ are literally 5 mins or so from this dealer so would be a good shout - and they sell these all day long so know what to look for. If you are getting inspection done that in effect is a deposit, the dealer will see you commitment. I'm sure noone else will buy it once it is in RSJ workshop being inspected (as they won't be able to see it!). If inspection goes ok - then put the deposit down.

Personally I would try agree price before inspection. Then gives you more scope to knock a bit more off post inspection. Otherwise - if inspection concludes 1k of work they will say ok take it for 30k! If you had already agreed 30 you might get another 500-1000 off post inpection! Just my view.

Although deposits are refundable, things can get messy when trying to get a deposit refunded. So keep that in mind also.

Good luck!! Let us know how it goes!

Spoke to RSJ (I know Darren) - they dont want to do an inspection on another dealers car - fair enough...so no go...

I didnt buy it, but bought...

...THIS instead!

woo hooo bounce - picking it up Saturday...

And, no, I didnt get an independent inspection, as a result of reading threads on here about RSJ and meeting them, I have complete confidence that anything amiss will be fixed no quibble....

Its just a policy that we have.
We are happy to do PPI for private sales , no problem there, as private sellers are less sensitive when you point out the faults on their cars.
Other trade sellers who have the car just to make a profit see a PPI as his nightmare to losing a sale and we dont want to be involved in that as a competing seller.
They tend to think we are slagging off the car just to get our own one sold after all we will inspect it to the standards we sell to.
We know from experience there is going to be a four figure bill on every car of that age that we would inspect and dont want to get involved in the wranglings of a buyer and seller and make trade enemies.
The other problem is when we see a car that has been accident damaged and we have to reveal that to a buyer , the seller is mighty pissed off with us.
Not worth the bother for £150.

You didnt offend me at all.
Its just sometimes worth putting out some info even on a jokey post as there could be seen to be some truth in it,and there is, but not for the reasons someone might think.
Alex was looking at our car at the same time as the other one anyway and just couldnt decide between the two.

It also gave me a chance to post one of my 10 posts a year I find time to post....
