Hi everyone, well after much deliberation, I have decided to stick with the 996 C2. I must admit I have recently been seriously considering a 996 Turbo or a 997 C2/C4, and having test driven them both, surprisingly I did not get enough of a desire to move out of the current car. The reasons? Well I found the turbo very, very quick, however how much of that is realistically usable on the road within legal limits, I think I would lose my licence very quickly, plus and this is the reason I didn't want to move to a 997, it just doesn't have that chuckability about it. Maybe I have been with the C2 for too long and knowing it's not worth a fortune means I can play without worrying about a scratch or small dink, which is quite a relief.

So...to the point of the topic - I am having the wheels (GT3 Split Rims) refurbed and have a choice of centre badges. I quite like the understated monochrome look whereas the missus likes the coloured crests (Trust her to have expensive tastes), does anyone know what they would have originally been sold with? and what are peoples opinions on colour V's Monochrome and OEM vs replica centre caps?

Thanks for your opinions!

Mine have coloured crests and they look like they're original, i.e. they're quite tired now.

I was given a set of replica badges for Christmas. They're bright and shiny and look OK from a distance I guess but once you get closer there's no fooling anyone. They're far lower quality than the genuine ones.

On that basis I'd recommend hunting down a good s/h set.

I think the monochrome ones were standard and the coloured centres were a cost option....

Back to the jokes!

Thanks chaps, although still too few opinions on whether to go for monochrome or coloured.

What's the consensus these days? I know it's to have a white car, but mines Blue and I am not going for a respray!

Personally, I think it is a bit like not wearing spots and stripes at the same time.

Bright coloured cars (eg Guards Red) look great with monochrome wheel caps, but black/silver/grey cars will show off the gilt and colour crests on the wheel caps.

Note that this is just my personal preference.

Red and green should never be seen? Thats as far as my styling advice goes, and thats probably out of date. What would Gok say?

I pretty much have the same taste as Clarkson.......bad.

Ok, I think at the moment it may be the monochromes as it's a little more understated and on a 11yr old car it may be better than having nice new refurbed wheels with expensive coloured crest centre caps as that may look a bit showy, if you know what i mean.
I drive the car for it's dynamics not for the way it looks, and before any of you point out that the wheels are being refurbed, they have to be before the tyres come off on their own accord, lol...
