Is it best to have this done by OPC, or an independent. Any recommendation for either in the south east.

are you renewing the warranty?

if so, OPC (close as you can get to indie price match)

if not, indie or OPC on indie price match

Still trying to decide if it's worth renewing the warranty.

Do they still do that? Cardiff OPC certainly weren't playing ball when I tried it on Tuesday smile

As everyone knows I could only recommend the best OPC in the world - Mid Sussex.

Regardless of that call several up - e.g. MS, Cambridge, Guildford and Silverstone, and request a quote on the basis you are shopping around for the best price. And also ask them what loaner they can tempt you with and for how long... smile

If you go Indy only use a reputable one, though for resale and warranty you may prefer to stick to OPC for the main servicing.

maybe not on 2 year old cars, but on older stuff I am 'led to believe' its more common...

part of it comes down to the relationship you have with the OPC you use. buy a car, renew the warranty, have the service there, be a nice customer... usually it comes back to you a bit

sure an OPC is never going to be the cheapest option, its a premium service and that big flash showroom is costly to run, but it can be made a bit less expensive

Do people really still pay £150 for a brake fluid change? confused

No, they pay £150 to have a brake fluid change done at an OPC along with the relevant stamp in the book and the preservation of the used car warranty

is it a rip off - yes at an absolute time / materials / skill level

is approx ~£3k every couple of years (warranty + Service) fair value for the OPC warranty.... individual judgement call required

Booked in with Mid Sussex, very pleased with the arrangements.
