Hi,

I've decided that I'm going to compete at hillclimbs and sprints in my 2000 Boxster S rather than my MG this year, mainly becuase I can drive it to and from events quickly. In order to save weight I would like to run fuel as low as possible. This means I am in danger of running out from time to time. I'll carry a full can to rectify this but will it casue any damage? Thanks

Not a good idea really. You are likely to pick up any debris in the tank when its low and fuel starvation when running hard can make it run too lean which can damage the engine, doesn't mean it has to be full mind!

You may also suffer fuel starvation under competition circumstances which would of course destroy your time. I rarely let my car drop below about a quarter of a tank when competing.
