Chaps,

About to pull the trigger on a 911.

Had an 111pt check and borescope.

All good, except for an over-rev (once) in range 4 & 5. Missed Gear. 700 hours ago?

I'm not that clued up on rev ranges, the durations and risks.

The OPC that just did the tests actually retailed the car themselves, with the over-rev originally and are happy to stand by it.

Thoughts?

If they'll warrant it today, then this specific overrev cannot be used as a reason not to warrant again in 2 years.

On the other hand, plenty of other cars around if this is going to givve you sleepless nights

Question answered care of Tom @ 911Virgin.

Thank you that man - they do know their business and how to future proof! Shame that they didn't get a car in before I found this one!

Seems that it's software glitch!

it's not possable to do 1 over rev

there was some post about overs revs clicking up 1

another thing was if it's older than 50 hours it's ok as it would have blown up already.

Anything sub 10 is not possible, hence software glitch.

Surely when they did the 111pt check they should have xplained this to you...or have they really not got a clue what they are doing?

OPC sales staff have no clue about over revs.

they will ask the techy boys round the back , "is the car ok" ie. none in range 4 and that's about as far as sales staff go :-).

No idea what they are doing!

Warranty guy indeed asked the tech guy - who babbled on about 'leak tests' and 'chain slap'.....all checks that they would have completed before retailing the previously.

Shudder to think what happens in the workshop!

I think it's as you'd expect - you find technicians that are trained, time served but don't really 'think' about the jobs....then you find the really good techs that have a stronger technical appreciation - these guys are often found at older OPCs or have gone independent.

This particular OPC is a relatively new one.....
