Hi,

Does anyone know an affordable garage in Hertfordshire or the edge of North London with experience of the front-engined Porsches? I'm having difficulty tracking down an issue on my 924 and I think it's time to hand it over to a professional.

Carrera Engineering sounds like a pretty good bet and they're only 20 minutes away:

Any thoughts?

Hi
Yes I have used carrera engineering for both of our Porsches
Tony is first class and competative with his prices.

Just mention my name and he will look after you.

Cheers.

Cliff.

I had them inspect a GT3 pre-purchase and when I then had it inspected immediately post-purchase (by Sports & Classic) it turns out they hadn't been as thorough as I had asked on some points (e.g. checking PAS pipe for a rupture) and had been somewhat economical with the truth about other things (saying the LSD was not perfect but ok when it was completely shot for example). I suspect they were being rather too helpful and sympathetic to the owner (who they knew) though rather than incapable of doing a good job.

JZM in King's Langley are good, a bit pricey now but that's based on years of building up a good name & investing in kit.
I have used PorscheWorx in Belsise Park & won't be back, PM if you'd like details

I've only used them once but found that they were quite 'pessimistic' with the amount of work required on the car.

JZM also are ok but, as mentioned above, you're really looking at quite expensive prices.

Having said that, both outfits work well and know their Porsches.

I will send you a pm my friends garage in potters bar. He worked for Porsche for over 10 years and just purchased his own garage. He works on my 997tt and he will be specialising in Porsche's and gtr's.

Portiacraft in Mill Hill are now looking after the 930. Paul & Matt know their stuff and each time the car comes back it looks & drives better/faster than it went in. Christ knows what they're doing but I'm happy they keep doing it. Convenient as near Mill Hill station too.

That's worth looking into, thanks.

Off topic, but can we lure you down to the Herts meet again in a few weeks, Kevin?
