I did the same after some beers using ebay.
The flight to Scotland to pick up the 2.5 Boxster was fun and made it into an adventure. The car has now turned into a hobby, and I am spending much time on the hifi and getting the on board computer working (Yes, you have one installed). The missis loves it, just keeping fingers crossed it turns out to be hassle free.
Have fun with it, and enjoy the car. BTW the 2.5 is quite light, so does have some benefits.

For the money I would have one over anything else with 2 doors and cloth roof in that price bracket. The only downside is that if you want to keep it tip top you will be paying out £1kpa minimum on servicing and bits (on top of tyres, go juice and insurance). If you are happy just to keep the wheels turning you could get away with about £500pa. But that would just be cruel to a fantastic car.

I don't know the age/spec/miles/condition/history/price balance of the specific car in question, but what I do know is that the price margin between the 2.5 and S is quite narrow compared to the vast difference in performance.
Could probably have had a 3.2S, one reg letter older and a very few more miles for similar money.
ETA - I really am used to stuff a bit quicker, so in my case the higher performance is important, although I appreciate that's not everyone's priority, to the extent that I got bored of my TVR 5litres 270bhp/tonne very quickly and now supercharged 390bhp/tonne.
Horses for courses, that was the point I was making sorry that didn't come across.

I hear what you are saying but the difference in price is at least £2.5k whihc at these prices is over half the cost of the car in the first place - it's all relative.Interesting to see that prices seem to have hardened, I practically gave mine away but I wanted out and CBA with private sales for the sake of a monkey.
I'd also suggest that the running costs, which with Pork of this age are going to be there, of a 3.2 are about 1.5x that of a 2.5.
Without trying to sound all 'posh' at the price the OP is paying it's almost a disposable item, when you start to get to £6.5k+ min. for a 3.2 you are starting to talk about sums that would sting if the engine turned into a handgranade.
