"Imported from New Zealand"
Discussion
Arghh, this isn't getting any easier. In my quest to find "the right" 993, I have found a nice, ice blue convertible, about £2k less than any other I've seen. Full service history, etc. The only issue is - its originally from New Zealand!
Is this likely to be a problem?? Or shoudl I go ahead?
Any help gratefully received.
Thanks

I am stunned that a car should have migrated its way from New Zealand all the way to blighty. So. It should have originally been right-hand drive, of course. I would check up on the history of this car very, *very* carefully. Speak to the previous owners. Check the VIN with Porsche.
In NZ they run on 92 Octane standard and 95 Octane "super"! Presumably the ECU will take care of our higher octane levels?
Why not check the car with Porsche NZ. You can find them at www.porsche.co.nz
I doubt you'll have a problem driving or owning it. The only problem will be selling it - as the current owner is finding out.
My tack... if you want to keep the car for a long time, save yourself 2k and go for it.
If you want to sell it quickly or easily in the future, buy one without any kind of 'grey' history.

Thanks all. You've been amazingly helpful, I'm looking forward to actually getting a car and bringing it along to a meet!!!
I think I've made a decision. The original car I saw, which was a black 993 Convertible with black roof, and low mileage. Its had the roof changed, as the last owner closed a garage on it, but a new roof is better than a 6 year-old one, is my thinking! With any luck, should have sorted it all out by Monday.
