Interesting 993 with 3.8 engine!
Discussion
It is a lot of money, but you can spend £40k on a low mileage 993 C2S or C4S; like you say, if you look at what's been spent incl. £8.5k for a total respray, I don't think the price is too far out.
Personally, I'd seriously consider the car rather than a 996t, and it will be possibly unique; I went back from my 996t to my 993 and have no regrets. Don't get me wrong, the 996t is a brilliant car but IMO, does'nt have the 'presence' or classic feel of the 993.
Each to their own I guess, Good Luck.

Reads as though the car was factory fitted with the 3.8 from new. Upgrade option when new 300hp vs 285hp. There was a thread on here recently about a 993 C4S with similar engine upgrade.
Nice option to have - Possibly even take the bits off and sell them, end up with a nice 993 with a desireable 3.8 RS engine upgrade.

Looks rather nice and JZM seem to be good at punting this type of car.
I'd personally rather have the 3.8 money spent elsewhere though and a bit more stricter with the RS homage. I don't like 911's so much that deviate from factory specs. I've even considered putting proper RS springs and dampers on mine just so its faithful. I think the front splitters and rear wing should be the genuine thing as well at that sort of money and the RS uprights are very conspicous by their absence.
On another note, I would hope it hasn't got 993turbo calipers at the back because it will be a lethal heavily front biased concotion with that combination ... 993tt rear calipers have SMALLER pistons than stock. Could just be a typo.

Jackal, lethally heavily front biased with turbo rear reds?
What speed were you driving at to compare the difference, I am impressed it was apparent to you, let alone lethal!
I assume you have fitted the brake accumulator to your C2 as original fitted equipment on Turbo & RS?
Surely the factory fitted it for a reason with the larger brakes?
I'm not certain what you are saying ? Are you disagreeing with me ? Its quite simple. Turbo brakes belong on a turbo or C4S and RS brakes belong on a narrow body 2wd car. That's the way its always been. What speed were you driving at to compare the difference, I am impressed it was apparent to you, let alone lethal!

The 993 turbo brakes are designed around the widebody AWD running gear which is heavily rearward biased so the brakes are very front biased to counterbalance. They don't belong on a 2wd carerra. Even just fitting turbo calipers on the front would make the braking unbalanced. What's common (esp. in 968 circles) is to fit 993 turbo brakes on the front but then uprate your pads in the rear to retsore some of the balance. Fitting the rear Turbo calipers as well though is just taking even more braking away from the rear (smaller pistons) and asking for trouble.
In answer to yuor question, I haven't driven a C2 with turbo calipers all round but then I don't need to because Porsche tell you that its wrong without having to waste your money. And yes, I have driven very seriously front biased cars on circuit ... kind of fun if you like doing 720's in the braking zones and smashing into oncoming trackdayers.
If someone has fitted turbo calipers all round to any 2wd NB carrera then I would be questioning the integirty of all other modifications. Just my opinion.Edited by jackal on Thursday 27th October 19:05
we went and bought a 993 GT2 racecar today.. whilst i was looking over the car i took note of the brakes!! 400mm floating front discs with water cooled six-pot gold( le mans endurance spec) brembo calipers, and (what looked like to me) 993 turbo red front calipers & discs on the rear... car runs a custom 3.8tt 600-800bhp and weighs 1000kgs.. collecting on saturday and will post more info.

Ade, please make sure you post a thread on this. Be really interested in the engine side because those bhp figures look interesting. Kenade

Hi Ken,I will do exactly do as you ask mate.. to tell you the truth i've been itching to post a thread regards the car, but my team boss strictly instructed me to say nothing until the deal was done.. that deal has now been done i think/hope today!
I can tell you the car is a BEAST!
Raced in Group C class and has posted 1.38's round Oulton park!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I completely agree that its overpriced but I didnt want to go into that on my first post about it until I knew a bit more about the car. A decent C2s although Tip can be had for 29k and a couple of other manuals slightly higher. It looks like a very good bitsa but for top top money. I cant decide whats its real value, I think good C2s money if the mileage of the engine is not ridiculous.

I believe JZM supplied this car to the most recent owner with [most of?] the mechanical mods already done, he then had other bits done including the paint in the last year or so.
I'm not in the market for one so am not qualified to comment on price but if you fancy it I suspect you wouldn't build it for the money.
If you have questions why not ring JZM?
