'Unwise' unless you is drivin' wid ya Julie. 19's are a little bit Ali G, are they not? The only classy ones I've seen are original equipment, eg alloys on M3 E46s.
If not OEM equipment (and often if they are), you may have to suffer tramlining, altered handling, higher tyre purchase costs, increased tyre noise at speed, and possibly increased stress to suspension components.
Why bother, when 18 inch Sport Designs look so good? And if you do go for 19s, for gawd's sake don't chrome 'em ;-)

My GT3 is currently at RUF in Germany. I was also interested in the 19 inch RUF wheels. They talked me out of it and advised I go for their 18inch wheels, but increase the front width to 8.5 inches for more stability and keeping the rears at 10 inches. Having spoken to the engineer in charge of suspensions/wheels, he was of the opinion 19inch wheels didn't offer the sidewall stability required for good handling. The profile of the tyre would be far too thin, as it has to clear the arches. They also highly reommended Pirelli Rosso's.
