Well I've finally put my deposit down and ordered a spanking new facelifted 2002 Carrera from Lancasters in Colchester. This will be my first Porsche and the realisation of a boyhood dream. I can't wait!
I can change the spec 6 weeks before delivery but I've gone for this for now: Seal Grey, the new 18" Carrera 5 spokes, -10mm sports suspension, sports exhaust, black leather, manual. No spoilers or bolt on's at all. Only thing I might change is colour to silver.
I've gone for the rwd in manual to save weight and increase the fun. This model in standard trim is some 180kg lighter than the C4S tiptronic, for example. Together with carbon fibre bucket seats and the omission of various unwanted mass (no rear seats & reels, stripped out luggage bay, light battery etc) it should weigh in some 1/4 ton lighter. Should be plenty nippy enough on the roads day to day.

Roadrunner, good choice, but cancel it and order the forthcoming Carrera 2S (i have it on good authority it will be a stonking 3.8L) and is released next year.
Colour wise seal grey is 'ok', lapis blue is the 'don' or basalt black is good.
Big tip, make sure you take black or dk blue lthr, a porsche buyer advised me that anything else knocks the residual value.

2003 sounds good to me - I've got an order in too (turbo) but I've got to wait until 2004 for delivery! I've decided I can't think about it for at least 18 months or I'll go bonkers.
ah well...all good things etc.

So what is going(or staying) then Steve? The E46 M3 or the Caterham?
