I've seen a couple of the new face lifted carrera's about now, one in silver and the other in seal grey. It looks so clean and simple now. The front lights are a major improvement now, enhancing the main circular lamp much more. I love the way all the shutlines flow into each other too. Very cool and contempory design without scoops and spoilers. The soft slim five spoke 18's set it off well too. Just based on looks, not performance, I think this is the most elegant version yet by some margin.

How do you guy's rate it in the metal?

Yep, thumbs up here, but heck, I even love the C4S and it's wide body.

Thom will hate it, that's for sure.

One thing I've noticed in the specs is the weight varies rather a lot depending on the model. The manual carrera 2 is some 180kg lighter than the porker carrera 4S tiptronic. Not suprisingly the 'basic' carrera kicks it's arse out of shape. Why on earth would you bother with the lardy versions?

They are all very fast, so does a few tenths and a few mph matter in the real world?

Personally I love pure clean lines. My favorite prosche front ends in order of preference are: 356, 550, 2002 C2, 993. I'm not a fan of ugly spoilers and gaping vents for the sake of having the premier model. However I do have a massive need for speed. With this in mind I'd overlook any factory styling and go for it anyway. Afterall a Ferrari 355 is IMO one of the most beautiful cars and does very well without spoilers and vents tacked on.

For the short time I had the C4S I found it fantastic, and the extra 20BHP really made a difference over the old 996, sounded great with the Sports exhaust too....
