Wow the comments. Some expert claiming rusty torx bolts for the bonnet on an 11 year old car means the car has had paint etc..
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen people negatively commenting in order to try and drag down the final value
I think I’m reading, the chap stating this hasn’t even seen the car. This isn’t the first time I’ve seen people negatively commenting in order to try and drag down the final value

Oh that’s nothing, over the years there have been plenty of Porsche’s “written off”, “reshelled” or “must have had a massive rear end shunt” according to various sages on PH. And how did these “experts” reach these conclusions ??Why the badges were missing off the engine covers of course
I was considering the Collecting Cars option for selling my 911
After writing a very detailed description & history & submitting online it was clear during my phone call with them that had been a pointless exercise, as they hadn’t read it.
Then ensued a conversation about value, I said what I was expecting & was promptly told that was unrealistic. Some quite ill humoured debate followed whereupon I was told that my figure was £5k too high.
However the figure I’d stated was the one suggested by The Market in a recent phone call with them & only £1,250 above WBAC offer which wouldn’t be factoring in the Hartech engine rebuild.
Seems to me they are seeking guaranteed sales (& commission) by trying to set low reserve figures.

Rest assured, the reserve figure agreed means nothing, purely because they’ll be texting you/ringing you in the closing stages of the auction to tell you you “need” to either drop the reserve, or dispense with it altogether ...After writing a very detailed description & history & submitting online it was clear during my phone call with them that had been a pointless exercise, as they hadn’t read it.

As you’ve rightly said, their business model is all about guaranteed sales, at pretty much any cost (to the vendor, obviously)

Why the badges were missing off the engine covers of course
. I think my issue with this one in-particular is the fact they have posted it on an auction page for all bidders to see. CC should vet comments if they are attempts to knock a cars value, it's incredibly back handed. Insinuating a car may have been crashed because of a couple of rusty bolts is beyond ridiculous Why the badges were missing off the engine covers of course

I suspect CC aren't particularly bothered at any attempt to reduce a car's value by prospective bidders, because ultimately, as long as the car sells, they're laughing all the way to the bank ...N111BJG said:

I think they understand the auction dynamics: a bidder needs an incentive to bid. Reserves remove the incentive to bid. If the seller isn’t taking any risks then what’s the point? You can't expect to set the reserve above the market price you'd obtain through other routes e.g. WBAC. Obviously in some market conditions, sellers can get away with anything - but in general the seller needs to take on some downside risk if they want access to the upside risk an auction offers.
