So, for £1500 notes you are laughing, and you drive it like you stole it!

I had a MY2000 996 for 5 years and last year I sold it with 120,000 miles on the clock . All I heard for 5 years is RMS issues being discussed . I had the water pump go in mine and that was month I sold it, so before then I had no issues with engine at all. You only ever hear about people with issues, the other 99 per cent of people keep quiet .

If things break you fix them . No one expects to buy a Porsche and run it on fiat panda money .

Drive it , enjoy it and if it breaks fix it .

If you don't want any wear and tear bills buy a new panda with a three year warranty .

I know what I would rather be in :-)

For that sort of money you can cross your fingers, hope you get 3 years trouble free motoring and throw it away !!!

Nicked the keys to the Mrs's car this afternoon and was plesently surprised by it.
Even after 117k miles everything seems to be screwed together quite well, it's surprisingly nippy, and pulls really well through the gears, and even has quite a nice noise when you give it some beans. driving

It all boils down to what your 'noise' benchmark is. wink
It's not really in the same league as my de-catted, straight through piped TVR. rotate

Thought you guys might be interested to see a dyno plot for my 2000 986 S. It's standard and was run on Sainsbury's 95. Nothing done to it since I picked it up a month ago (apaer from changing some lights).

Nice EDC...

Thought I'd post a little update having now had Bluebell 3 months, all I can say is what a great little car she is, what started as an experiment as to whether I could live with a manual again (artificial left kneecap) I have to say the car has confirmed I can smile

In the last 3 months Bluebell has been faultless, has started every dayy, stopped at every 'ask' and handles exceptionally sweetly for her age, my A / B road commute has been a joy and we have enjoyed a large number of those with the roof off, would have been more but with the plastic window I'm a little fearful of cracking it so on those crisper morning where i would be happy with the roof off, I've not been brave enough, but its only been the odd occasion.

She has proven to be exceptionally practical, although could do with a glove box, having installed bluetooth head unit I can now enjoy catching up with friends in what used to be 'dead time' on boring drives and she now sports brand new Falken 452's all round which have been superb both wet and dry smile

So the current plan is that after my wedding this weekend and the summer I'll probably be in the market for something a little newer / shinier (and quicker wink ) to replace her with on a longer term basis.

Here are a couple of snaps from this morning .....

Raceboy, good news, they have been exceptional, and at 14 years old I didn''t think I needed the N rating .......

My thoughts exactly, especially as it's a £150 a set saving. wink
Another thing that I found at the weekend that may be of use to other 'poverty pork' owners.....
Servicing, Ours is due a 'Major' so I phoned up a few local indys to get a price, not cheap, but then I wasn't expecting it to be, then just to try and cheer myself up I thought I'd ring the local Main Dealer to get a price.......
Here came the shock, the inys wanted £540ish the Main Dealer............£395 rotate
And that could include collecting it, service/wash/etc/main dealer stamp in the book/returned home....seems a no brainer. scratchchin
The service guy at Nottingham Porsche mentioned it's a new sales drive starting this week to get some of the older cars back in the dealer service network and undercut the indys. wink

Blimey, that sounds good, will bear that in mind when the time comes, Oct / Nov but will give the Indy that have looked after it the last 7 years first shot at it though smile

Not sure what wheels you have but on my 17's the savings on the Falkens over the N rateds was nearer £200, was an expensive month for tyres with the Mini Cooper needing 4 and one of the bikes needing a rear .... !!!!

Yeap, standard 17's, pictures a few posts earlier in the thread. wink
£368.26 for the Falkens delivered from Camskill, then it's a few pints to the garage lads round the corner on a Saturday morning to fit them wink

Ah, yes, that one, has a nicer interior than mine but I think I prefer the ambers on mine, kind of in keeping with R plate retro cool .....

If it were a keeper I'd get a set of Black seats and carpet set from ebay to break it up a bit, but can't be bothered, will just be more picky when the time comes to buy....

I did after all just get a call, went 'yeah alright' and found myself the owner of Bluebell, didn't even leave my desk !!!

Had a great run out in mine tonight & have it a good clean.

Still can't believe that I got it for £5k!

I know it's a marmite colour combination (Lapis Blue with full savannah leather) but I love the Blue & am getting used to the interior.

Would post pics but can't from iPhone (or if you can I don't know how)

My car now has clear front lights and black zunsport grilles. I'm looking at exhaust options now. It's had a couple of trips to the south coast already in the past month and is currently on daily duties on a 20 miles commute along the M3 until my company car comes. Next thing is a trip to Wrightune for activation of the trip computer function.
