Maybe he foresees the market has peaked for the time being and wants to offload whilst the going is good?

Or he is moving and doesn’t want to export them all
No idea but it is a lot of nice cars

Collectors just sell every now and again , like the WHATS APP guy , ( only bought the best , yellow Pork ) , they do not need the money as often Billionaires . Wake one morning and think sell some cars . Maybe at least some may get used , as car values go up sadly they get used less .

If its this guy and he set up in 1964 and began collecting cars as a hobby he would be what maybe late 60s, 70s? Maybe hes selling on to liquidate for his family.

If it's the guy I think it is who I met at Croft, he was/is a real enthusiast who works to make the very best of his cars.

as that you on the M4 going East on Thursday morning? I was going West so only caught a quick glimpse, but it looked great :-)
Yes it was. I was heading to Beaconsfield to meet a trailer back up north. Was tempted to drive it all the way up to Preston but decided best to put it on a trailer and get it recommissioned as it hadn’t run for some time!

Well, the sellers name on Collecting Cars is "Digger" so there's a bit of a clue there.

That collection does seem to cover the greatest hits for the last 40 years of Porsche.

I'm drawn to some of the other lots - E28 M5, 74 Honda 750 and who wouldn't want a Scimitar tank?

We both use the same detailer.

Collection is too big and too much to manage I've been told. Not sure how accurate that is though.

My experience is that collecting cars (not the website, the hobby) is a pain in the arse and, from time to time, you think 'screw this, I'm selling them all' and then wonder wtf you would do with your time/energy/money instead and carry on.

Im 51 though. Come 65/70 I'm sure I'll be downsizing. This may be the case here.

As a contrast I bought the replica which sold on CC a few weeks ago; myself and a friend want to do European rallies and we decided we weren’t brave enough to drive a real one / risk the £. The genuine article is a lovely thing though.

As a matter of interest what was this one based on? Do you have any more pics?

This auction is planned for the weekend 15/16 May. Best of luck to everyone here who gets involved from here. I believe the car leading them into battle on the Friday is the one to have though wink
