xantia tyres

what size tyres should a 1993 xantia 2.0i 16V VSX have? wifey bought car couple of months ago and rear tyres need replacing they are 195/55 15s on standard alloys but the tyres sidewalls look too big for rims.
i have a spec sheet for post 18.04.94 xantias which says they have 205/55 vr15 and the handbook says 185/65 r15 but is dated 11/96 so i am confused whether she gets two new 195s or four new 185s she rightly wants to keep the car to standard spec for insurers any advice gratefully accepted before we contact manufacturers
its a point worth checking with models with large range of specs that you can inadvertently buy a car with something that an insurer could deem an undisclosed modification in the event of a claim

but advised contact local main dealer who used vin to establish original spec was 205/55 15s on 6 in rims so even more expense
