The Wifes - New 116i Sport Auto in Montego Blue with Boston Lemon Leather

Then for me, just needed a cheap station car and something to tow my sons kart trailer, so a 1999 528i SE Auto with only 50k and full BMW SH

The auto's fine - not the fastest car in the world but she only drives around town so doesn't need much more - I "converted" her to automatics about 6 years ago and she won't drive anything else now!

Hoping the E39 is going to be tough - it will need to be! smile

Check to see if the cooling system has been replaced, if not it will likely fail sooner rather than later. Most E39s suffer with this problem, £400 fix.

£2700 which although wasn't the cheapest around, couldn't find much else with that sort of mileage

Wife's car, she won't drive a manual any more - not going to argue - she's happy = less nagging!

Can't go wrong with an E39 - I had a 528i SE Auto which was great (saloon rather than touring though) - you've done well to find one with such low miles.
