Audi 80 TDi 1994

Hello to you all. I hope somebody can enlighten me as to why my Audi has stopped registering the milage? The speedo and rev counter work fine. I took the dash cluster out thinking the drive had come loose or broken...but found its all electric! all wires were where they should be so I am at a lose? Where does the signal to register mileage come from? Where should I look...Thanks for reading this.

Thanks J44esd. I'll take a look at all that was mentioned. Mine is the mechanical type mileage counter, I too have been prodding the reset button but it just moves the number only slightly...I'll keep trying. Thanks
