As if I did, the title would make more sense. I picked up car number 20 and somehow ended up with my third yellow car in a row:

Since I sold my Falcon to a Steve Irwin tribute act (no, really) I needed something else asap. This was up for sale at a good price and cheap so went to look today. Although the paintwork is a bit tired the body is solid and the interior is in excellent condition. It was owned since 1982 by an old boy who only sold it 3 months ago. I know this as he kept a service book were he meticulously recorded every little thing he did for the next 26 years. Only 140,000km (86,000 miles) on the clock, even has the toolbox he made in the boot and the original change of owner slip dated 07 June 1982. As for the car, well check out the spec list:

Radio
Intermittent Wipers
Rear seat belts
Locking fuel cap
Clock
Foot rest
Door pockets
Twin door mirrors

Yes that's right, it has none of these features. It's the 2 litre pinto which despite being an auto actually goes pretty well for what it is. Auto choke doesn't appear to work though despite following the procedure in the handbook. Other than that, it's awesomely miserable, although I won't have it for too long as I'll be off touring the South Island in about 6 weeks so will need a van of some sorts

Nice. Reminds of the days when Ford model designation was a bit easier to understand. Popular, Popular Plus, L, GL, Ghia.

On the outskirts of Christchurch. You can't really fail to get some interesting scenery especially around the Port Hills. They were just quick snaps with the camera phone; when I get a chance I'll get it cleaner and get some proper ones

Of all the Fords from the seventies and eighties, I think the Mk4/5 cortinas have 'aged'the best. The lines are crisp and the proportions are great.

Nice find

You've escaped from 'The Spy Who Loved Me' haven't you? Do you have a polyester suit and a wing collar to match? Loving the Beige.

The Aussie 2 litre Mk 4 & 5s arnt to bad at all,Whowever most here prefer the six.
Which was designed as an automatic gate opener for the round Australia rally.

Unfortunately parking in farm paddocks didnt win them the rally.
Most in wrecking yards have oxidised lower A-pillars here (Aus.)

The 2.0 L doesnt suffer from the understeer , tho the steering is more akin to the
helm of a ship , with the Falcon derived front suspension. A very fast ship though.

The Rover V-8 would be the optimum transplant. Not the iron 8s ordinarilly fitted .

The english version feels more of a stock whip as far as chassis ridgidity is concerned.
The Aus. Mk 3 Six was still the English rails and suspension. Td., Te., and Tf. in aus.
