My VW Corrado's..
Discussion
Been a member on PH for a while but never noticed the "Readers Cars" section.. now I have so I felt I should contribute
So here is my fleet. A 1993 2.0 16v and a 1995 2.9 VR6. I've had the 16v for about 4 years now (longest I've ever owned a car) and the VR6 I got about 2 months ago after wanting one since I first got into Corrado's when I turned 21. I'm 29 now so despite it "only" being 8 years, it feels like it's been forever.
The 16v....
Got her back in 2006 with approximately 156,000 on the clock and it's now on 197,500 miles and still running really well. A few modifications here and there include 280mm brakes off a G60 Corrado, Koni STR.T suspension, eibach antirollbars, rear strut brace, vibratechnics front engine mount, KR cam, K&N panel filter, 16" Borbet C's, and a Magnex backbox. Just went through the MOT on Friday with two advisories.. so left it at my trusted garage for a little bit of fettling, especially to work out where the rather sizeable puddle of oil I found under it before the MOT has come from
Very happy memories with this car. Have driven it to Germany and back, took it round the Nurburgring a couple of times and driven it back to it's home - the Karmann factory in Osnabruck. However.. I think I need to sell it really as the VR has "taken over" a bit - and I can't run two of them. Need a daily that I don't care about leaving in the work car park... can't subject this trusty old car to that fate. But selling it is going to break my heart I think.
The VR6
As I say, only had it two months but it's everything I hoped it would be.. driven numerous Corrado VR6's over the years but to finally own one is just magic. It's done just shy of 170,000 miles and runs brilliantly. Only a handful of modifications and I ideally want to keep it that way - Schimmel Performance 263 cam, 288mm brakes, eibach antiroll bars and Koni T/A's.. handles brilliantly, pulls like a train and sounds glorious even with the standard airbox & exhaust.
Thanks for listening to my waffling

Thanks guys! The red one is in the garage at the moment having a new ABS pump, new dizzy, and a bit of general housekeeping to cure a few slight oil leaks I'd noticed - as well as a blow in the exhaust sorted, and a brake fluid change. Should feel good when I get it back
I've decided not to sell it now seeing as I'll be spending probably half the value of the car on it over the next few days!

lovely car. the VR engine is sublime, if your car isn standard, try taking the cold air feed off of the airbox. Makes it sound rather alot better!
I've been out and driven a LOT of VR6's over the years - supercharged, turbo'd, with a VSR, with various different air filters, etc. A good quality air filter such as the BMC does make the VR6 sound sublime but I've made a conscious effort to just (aside from the mods already done) leave this one alone. I'm enjoying that sort of muted power feeling that you get with big engined cars. I like not hearing a lot till I give it a bootful Edited by Chicane-UK on Thursday 24th June 18:55
