First post really although I've been guesting here for a long time.
The other recent thread on Mantas made me throw this up do I hope it's of some interest to so,me of you.
I bought it as a nearly new 1600 SR all those years ago and although many many cars have came and went this one sorta stuck around. It's lived with me in four countries ,nearly written off once, rebuilt a couple of times , fiddled with a million times and brought me loads of fun and friends and whats more I still love driving it..........
Running a 2.0 Lt block with 2.2 crank , rods and machined pistons, Kent 254 cam /vernier/ solid lifters, Blydenstein BV head ,4-2-1 exhaust , Le injection , Getrag 240 but about to have a Ford type 9 fitted ( better ratios ) 3.44 with ZF LSD, Ford RS 500 discs with Calibra Turbo calipers on front, VW discs with Scorpio calipers on rear , EBC pads all round.17" Azev A's with Yokohamas Lot more but that'll do .
Here's some photos.......
Nearly new with Allycats and whitewalls ....!!

Some years later

And now.

Lovely motor used to love them when I was younger had a L reg A series what got written off and replaced with a P reg b series which contracted the dreaded rot and was sold off,but none of them could come any where near yours, good work.

Very Nice M8.

I have always had a soft spot for Mantas since I hired one for a long weekend as a treat for myself for finishing 18 weeks Basic Training for the Army back in 1985.

Slight lift of the bonnet on accelerating and Madonnas "Holiday" on the stereo!

Nice story. I wish I could keep a car for longer than 12months let alone 34 years!

Superb mate, I love cars that people have owned for years, tweeking and evolving as they age.
And that is a really very nice example of 'how to mod a manta'.

Love the shape of the Manta's.
I couldn't afford one then so I had the 1.9 Cavalier version in a fetching mustard colour hehe well I thought I was cool anyway hehe

Thank's y'all for those very kind comments .
I'm living down in SW Ireland now surrounded by wild mountains and sea with the most driveable roads you could ask for so I'm enjoying it even more than ever.
Still some plans for it though and in between been helping out on this ........
