My First car, I bought it on the 30th may this year and im loving it. Its only a 1.0 so not hat fast lol but untill i have a few years ncb it will do. It was listed in the local paper for £1700 but he took £1300 because of the crack in the bumper, which is a £100 repair. it has got 41,000 on the clock full mot 4 months tax. The only mod is a Sony Xplode head unit.

It's an XPLOD head unit, not xplode. That would be worrying

Nice first car. And glad to see you haven't added a list of tacky pointless mods in mind too, just keep it that way! biggrin

I had one of those as my first car as well. They are dead slow, but are cheap to run and insure as long as you get a reliable one.

They are good little cars!

Brilliant for a first car. I passed my test in one of these so nice and easy to drive.

That's exactly the same as mine! Same colour and everything. My first car too...I've had it 3 years now and it's been trouble free apart from the oil pressure switch and the gear linkage, both of which are a cheap fix (a new oil pressure switch cost £8!)

Enjoy it, they're oh so slow but are perfect first cars!

Nice car, what year is it? Keep a check on the front of the chassis rail for rust and rear brake cylinders as they tend to leak. Apart from that my daughter's 15 year old Corsa (used to be mine) is virtually trouble free.

Something's gone a bit wrong with PH hasn't it. A Corsa 'C' (yes, thanks for clarifying which generation of st heap we're talking about) is in no way a good first car. I've driven one and my Ford Ka was about 3000 times better, let alone a really good first car.

Sorry mate, i'm sure you're happy with it and your 'xplode' headunit but next time do a bit of research and buy a good car.

Cheers,
Rob

A Corsa may not be as good to drive as a Ka, but it won't rust away in front of your eyes and it has a lower insurance grouping and a higher EuroNCAP safety rating. Pretty important for a first car I'd say...

Rob it may not be to your liking but it's his first car. Cut him some slack. Okay a Corsa ain't going to set the world alight, but it's a car that goes from A to B. Anything more fun and the insurance would be a killer, and as for the Ka well looks wise I'd rather a Corsa.

So Rob what was your first car then ?

It'll also be worth more when he comes to sell it if it doesn't look like he covered it in glue and ram-raided Halfords' Ripspeed section.

It's not a 'PH' car, but the guy's got the right idea; tolerate something cheap and cheerful for a few years in order to build NCB. In fact, of all the threads I've seen about 'first cars', this seems to be the collective PH advice!

KAs are not as good on the road and every single guy I know who owned one only did so for a very short period of time due to the embarrassment of being seen to drive a KA.
Give the kid a break, he could have done one hell of a lot worse.
