Hi guys..

Thought I would post some pics of my current weekend toy..

It a 3 owner 1984 944 2.5 lux, 70k miles - bought in the pub pissed for a grand off a mates mate.. what the hell was I thinking

Few of you may be familiar with my story of my first few weeks if you have read in the Porsche forum..

In a nutshell:
Bought it during the snow - couldn't get if off her drive due to the ice for a few weeks.. (some pics on the walk up)

Set off to take it to my Dads to sort it out, 12 miles into the drive from London the head gasket blows in the middle of the Hatfield Gallaria tunnel, end up closing the A1 northbound for 20 mins (sorry guys)

hell oFree recovery

South Minns at 2.30am - Head in hands

Eventually get it to the garage and get the head gasket done, aswell as all the belts, ignitions leads, distributor, etc plus 12 months MOT..

On the drive to my house one of the coolant pipes bursts so I have to wait another week for the £2.99 tube to arrive..
I have had the car 3 months at this point and done more miles on a recovery truck than under its own steam..

It is now all fixed, and is AMAZING, still pulls like a dream, idles perfectly, everyone loves it (Especially the too cool for their own good chicks in east London - which is a turn up for the books)..

Got my Dad tempted to get one after his little play in it at the weekend, but doesn't have the power of his SL, so think he is going to trump me with a turbo or an S2..

Anyway, couple of pics whilst its looking shiny smile

These are very tempting especially in Turbo guise, its the cost of parts that put me off somewhat.

Very nice! I am seriously tempted by a 944 at the moment.

You know why the car breaks don't you?

Its that scarf.

It breaks down because of that scarf.

Just think about that.

I would love a turbo but think I will let my dad get one and he can contend with the bills.. 2 cars in london is already pretty decadent in my eyes..

I would be keen to get the wheels refurbed but not sure how expensive that will turn out.. It currently owes me about £1,800 with brand new belts, think I got a bit of a steal considering some of the crap on ebay and overpriced high milers on autotrader.

Now the sun is shining guys you should def get looking for a nice one..

Hahah, the jip I got for that scarf..

I have honestly never been so cold in my life, nigh on 4hrs on the side of the road in January with no jacket, I would have put anything on smile

Didn't even begrudge the horrifically expensive and crap coffee at South Mimms

biggrin

Car looks like fun - been in a 944 S2 and was really impressed. Also love the fact those pictures outside your house look like good old film ones - retro car with some nice retro pics. Noooice.

The parts prices are actually pretty reasonable, unless you are comparing it to running a Ford Fiesta? Were it can get expensive is changing the belts and if you need to (and I never did in 6 years of ownership) changing the clutch.

For the main these are easy cars to work on and parts are available and not expensive, even my local Porsche centre's 944 parts pricing was sensible!
