Had this six years now. Its completed a couple of euro trips including one to Spa. Ive done a few track days with it as well as everyday use. Its the 13th Cerbera built. I dont know if thats unlucky or not....hehe

A great drivers car.......

I like that alot....

I keep looking at these as a possible for my next car and it would have to be the 4.2 AJP engined version. How reliable has yours been and what sort of mileage have you done in it?

Pretty relaible. When i first got it. I spent out quite a bit to get it right.. But that was no fault of the car. But down to the previous owner. He had been in financial trouble for some time and had let slip on the car. Once i had it sorted it was fine. There are little niggles from time to time. But not anything that cant be sorted by the owner. It all adds to the appeal of ownership.

The key words with reliability on any TVR is "Regular use" You will find that most un-reliable TVR,s are those that sit for long months in a garage waiting for the summer months. These cars need regular use.

Some more pics of a trip out to Spa last year....

M20 on the way to Dover...

Waiting at dover before taking the ferry to Dunkerque

Checking the levels before entering on to the famous Spa circuit.

Hitting the famous Spa Francocamps........

I've been hankering after one of these for a looooong time. I really need to make the move. Give me some heads up tips on what to look for apart from the usual servicing, Hpi etc.

Love that colour as well...as well as the car

Main things to look for are the condition of the chassis. The outer riggers take a hammering behind the front wheels and can collect rot in these areas. Always look and see if one has had regular waxoiling by the owner. You really will need to inspect it closely. As any serious rot is a body off operation. And that is not cheap. You really would like a see a comprehensive service history on these as well. Inproper servicing and skipped servicing will lead to big bills later on.

Another weak area are clutches. If one lets go. You are looking at around £800 for a change. And its advisable to change the slave as well.

All Cerbs sound like a bag of nails when starting from cold. This is normal. It should quieten down once warm. If its quiet from start up,then the valves are closing up and thats not good. Tappets should be adjusted every 12,000 on a Cerbera.

Above all. These cars should be bought on condition rather than age.An older car that has been looked after and used on a regular basis is a better buy than a later car thats sits in a garage most of the year.

Just one thing to remember. These are 180mph+ cars and can still play with the big boys. You will have to go a long way and a lot more money to get that kind of experiance with anything else. They are grat cars to own and drive. And the owning experiance hasnt dampened in 6 years of ownership. I know its a bit of a cliche now. But every journey really is an event in one of these....thumbup

Great car, thought about one for a while after a ride in one of our old directors cars a few years back, trouble is every person I speak to about them always lists issues, whilst in said directors car the alarm started sounding whilst driving...!? Also spoke to someone in the local car park and he said it was relaible as hell, then his young son pointed out the 2 steering wheel harness replacements, leaking widscreen, headlight that fell out! and something else. I guess you learn to live with the build quality as its part of the car. Still fancy one if only for the straight throu pipe sound, tis the only thing that comes close to my current steed.

One of the guys on here has one with a big bore LS engine, really nice guy and his modified one is seriously rapid!!

The alarm sounding whilst driving is down to one of the doors not being shut before moving off. There were a few issues with steering wheel ribbon cable,as for lights falling out?! Ive never come across or heard of it personally. The guy with the LS powered Cerb sounds like "Brummie". Is it red?

Don't let life pass you bye based on what other people tell you.
If I had listened to everyone I would have missed out on 4 years of great fun in a TVR Tuscan Speed Six and now a Cerbera 2003 Speed Six. I was told to stay well away from the Tuscan but you know what it was fkING awsome a fantastic car and only had to replace the battery the engine was superb. So far in the Cerbera apart from a snapped droplink It has been faultless, SP6 engine is fantastic and it goes like stink, I,ve replaced the shocks, fitted HIDs,powdercoated the wheels and cleaned the chassis to death, and just returned from a 400 mile trip around the west coast of Scotland..

Thank god I didn't listen to people who told me "NO" but in truth had never owned a TVR ,I would have missed out on lots of FUN.

Remember this is supercar performance for Mondeo money, balance up the running costs of one of these compared to a Ferrari/Porshe with similar performance (purchase price and running costs) I think you'll find it will be a few quid more!! and not as much fun.
