Hi Guys thought I would post a few pics of my Focus ST.
I have ahd the car about 18months now. It has been the most fun car I have ever owned.
I don't really need a car for my comute or everyday use so this one has become abit of a track toy.

Since these pics where taken the wheels have been changed for black ones!!

What have you done to it then? Looks very low for a start.

Needs more info! It obviously has been treated to some height reduction, but if its a track toy then surely it must have some other bits done. Otherwise its just an ST. Go on, expand a little.

Hi,

As everyone has requested more info.

So far it has the Mountune performance upgrade package with a Scorpion CAT back package. A great mod in my book, it has transformed the car and the Torque figures are very impressive!

the suspension been lowered and upgraded using Eibach springs and Koni shockers. The suspension and body has also been stiffened using a front lower strut brace and rear anti roll bar and all suspension bushes have been replaced with poly bushes.

I plan to go further with mods but focusing on handling and braking, I am just in the process of researching what the next mod should be.

If anyone out there has any advice on further mods then please send them my way!

Thanks..

Strip it out. Don't have to cage it but rear braces will help. Swap the brake fluid for heavy duty high temp fluid as the standard fluid will boil on a track day (cheaper way to help braking than going for a big kit). Don't just bolt on a induction kit. You have chosen the exhaust well so do a bit of research and find whats going to work best for you. I went for a Viper cold feed system on my track car then had it mapped to make the most of the new combo. If you are feeling brave then i'd also recomend getting the inlet manifold ported and polished (or carbs are also good). Did you get the exhaust manifold upgraded too? This will help (get it mapped after this mod).

On the tracking / handling side: Play around with the angles and ride heights to see what works (google and search for proven figures). Your tyres might take a beating on the edges but if you are tracking it then you should expect the tyres to wear very quickly. Make sure both top and bottom of the struts are braced and get one for the rear. A cage is the next logical step but if you plan on keeping it sensible (road usable)......... Oh, and get a quaiffe LSD to eliminate that torque steer.

That should see you right.

Surely a LSD/ATB diff would result in more torque steer?

As has been mentioned, if your serious about making it a track car, strip it out, and get some sticky Tyres. You could do that for free if you sold your interior as you went along!

No, the LSD helps keep it straight by making the left/right power bias more equal. Without the LSD one wheel will always have more of the power and will pull toward one side (thats if it doesnt spin the other). I think top gear did a test a couple of years ago with the new Astra VXR. Jezza took his hands off the wheel and planted it, the car pulled violenly to one side.

Yes, with the LSD it'll track more along uneven surfaces and odd cambers but thats the price you pay.
