Hello everyone, I am a long time reader. As you can see by my username I owned a V6 Ford Cougar, from the age of 18. After driving that for 3 years I decided to up the power a little and about 8 months ago bought myself a 1995 Toyota MR2 Turbo Rev 3 GT T-Bar.

I longed for RWD for ages and the MR2 was a car I was always very fond of. I set out looking for a N/A car about a year ago, with the idea of getting something fairly light, fun, quite fast and cheap to run. But then I get a new job with a company car so thought screw the cheap to run nonsense and get something fairly light, fun and very fast instead wink So after months of looking for the 'perfect' example to fit my budjet I came accross mine.

Its a GT import so has all the toys on it, including electric folding mirrors which I was quite chuffed about. Now done 62k, VERY good condition for a 15 year old car. Had a few bits done to it before I bought it. Should be producing around 260 BHP Drives like a new car apart from some squeaky brakes which I think are just down to cheap discs and pads which the previous owner put on before he sold it.

A big change from the Cougar as I am sure you can imagine, the noise still makes me laugh now, its so loud! The turbo is only a couple of feet behind my head so its VERY audible! Really exciting and quicker then most hot hatches around, bit of an animal in the wet though (no TC or ABS)

The only thing I wasn't keen on is the colour, wanted a change from my Cougar which was also black, but the spec and mileage was spot on. So 8 months and only about 3000 miles later here we are, not put a foot wrong aside from a slight oil leak which I had fixed at work. Done one track day at Snetterton and it was great fun round there too, hopefully doing some more in the next few weeks.

Must admit that these look perfect for a bit of summer fun, can't afford one myself currently, but don't stop me looking in the classifieds

Looking good, nice colour too.
What's that dvd/sat thing in the middle? Easy to reverse visibility-wise?

Thanks for the comments.

Its fantastic in this weather, I haven't put the roof on in about a fortnight, just stick the car in the garage. Blackwall tunnel is a treat at the moment wink

Only problem is that there is a noticable loss in power on hot days, but thats to be expected with a turbo'd mid engined car I guess. By the way the screen in the middle is a pioneer Avic sat nav unit. Great bit of kit.

It is very easy to see out of. Reversing is easy as you can use the spoiler to see where the back is. The spoiler can obscure quite abit of rear visibilty when driving along though, ie. what kind of car is following you

The car cost £3000, then £900 for some essentials to make it tip top mechanically, half of which was paid for by my AA waranty. So basically £3500 which is quite cheap for a Rev 3 of this mileage, well it was last year anyway.

By the way its a standard Rev 3 rear wing. Thoughout the Mk2's life they went through 3 different rear wings I believe.

Cold air induction such as an ARC Airbox, and an ST205 chargecooler.

With both of these on my car hot days have little to no effect on the performance smile

LOL its sillicon sealant, these do suffer from leaky seals unfortunately. The seals are a big job to replace so this is the cheap fix, its fine apart from when using the jet wash was does still drip a little bit. Not really a big deal as I don't drive the car in the rain.

Of course mate I'll keep you in mind, I did get it at a very good price. I'm thinking about keeping it for around 6 more months whilst I save for my Monaro VXR, however after looking at JamieP's post I am quite tempted by a Supra now LOL

I miss mine. I had 3 Rev3's and they were superb. Even the one that lasted under an hour.

It's a shame there's such a short supply of good clean ones around now. Even the newly imported Rev5's are rare or heavily modified.
