Our Cooper S.......
Discussion
Hi All,
Nothing particularly special about it, but I have always been sceptical of the new Mini's, but after the future Wife persuaded me that she wanted one, here we are..... (Chequers are a matter of taste, it was all black but she thought it was too masculine...but i have grown to like them tbh)
Anyway, it is an absolute RIOT to drive, all though it could do with an LSD, anyone who was pecimistic like me, give one a try, i guarantee you will leave smiling!

Agree with the fun factor, even without a super/turbocharger in just Cooper form, but the unforgiving ride grinds me with these cars, again, even in just a Cooper on 16" wheels and proper tyres. Firm and unforgiving is an understatement!
Luckily mine is there when I fancy it and I don't have to put up with the ride on a daily basis!

Looks lovely.
Must admit I agree about the ride, I've had my Cooper over a year now and had convinced myself that the ride wasn't too bad on 16" runflats. Dropped it off at the garage this morning for them to sort out a rattle in the sunroof and they gave me this...
...which underneath the silly bodykit is only a MINI One, clad with 15" wheels and high profile non-runflat tyres. Despite being a bit underpowered I had a riot driving into work, the ride and handling just seems so much better without the subtle tram lining and jumpiness when you pass over anything that isn't perfectly smooth tarmac, yet it still feels tight and free from bodyroll. Think the runflats days might be numbered...

Back on topic, OP, the spot lamps, what are they exactly? An old neighbor had them on her Cooper when the R53 came out (Oddly Josh, she swapped it for a Megane like our ones) but I never found out what they did. Are they linked to the High Beams or separately operated or...?
Wow, I don't know if anyone else has had this in a similar car but pushed it into a roundabout earlier in the week and produced a simply enormous lift off oversteer moment.... I mean 2 turns of opposite lock type of slide!
Great fun once I ensured I was still pointing in the right direction....

the stock mini suspension coupled with the run flats is awful, i ran club sport spec coilovers and parada spec2's on my old cooper s and it was more comfy than stock and much more predictable on the limit, it could flick the back out but only as it was set up properly, as i had full camber adjust front and read i was rocking touring car style fronts but it made it much more planted,Great fun once I ensured I was still pointing in the right direction....
