Ok, hi i'm Jake, 22 from Herts! (feels like a lonely hearts add already)

This could be very long winded, but i'll try to explain things as easy as possible!

I bought a 205 gti back in December 2007, and had it to learn some mechanical ropes, and get my hands dirty, which in turn, has thrown itself into a full blown track car operation!!

I'll let the pictures do the talking for this first part!

And some good pics Adam took for me!

Left it pretty standard, enjoyed it, abused it, and learnt it.

Then i bought some goodies!

Rose-jointed gear linkages (waiting for quickshift)

Front and Rear braided brake lines

Group N Suspension Top Mount rubbers and new Top Mount bearings.

Group N Rear Beam mounts

Group N bottom engine and gearbox mount (waiting for top engine mount)

Full 10 piece silicone coolant hose kit

Shiney new Diesel rad (diesel ones are more efficient)

New drive shafts

Extensive engine gasket kit for the 1.9

Bilstein -40mm shock and spring kit

Then rebuilt my rear beam!!

Now not all the parts got round to being fitted, but they all come into play later on.

Trouble was, i went to a mates to change my starter motor, that was all well and good, but made the rookie error of not putting a gasket on, when putting the inlet manifold back on. Which in turn, made coolant leak into bore no. 2 and piss water out the spark plug hole, and steam out of the exhaust! Great! So i though it was fubared!

Then here come the epic bit (for me anyway)!!

I bought another shell with a 6 point safety devices cage, and was planning to do a sort of shell swap! So everything off the old car onto the new one!

BUT i got a bit carried away, with things, so alot of stuff got either replaced, or renewed!!

Again, i'll let pictures do some talking!

More goodies!

Kent PT 36 270 degree Cam

Magnex 4-1 Manifold

-40mm Eibach Pro Springs (to replace Apex ones)

Harness eyelets and mounting plates

Polybushes for Wishbones and front ARB

Suspension turret strengthening plates

Bonnet pins

Perspex Windows - All except windscreen, with sliders too!

Interior now matt blacked!!

National rail pink powdercoated stuffs!!

Group A mounts.

I then decided to be all manly and put the subframe (and everything attached to it) on the car by myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How it looked before on the car.

Then, i had a little break and had a tartish half hour and polished my headertank cap. :S

Then cleaned up my injectors, and put together the fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator and injectors.

Calipers are on, door needs another coat.

GTi-6 Brakes!

Not Much clearance lol

Oh and my newly done battery tray! haha

Then i started on the engine!

Kent 270 Cam attached to lightweight vernier pulley

Rocker cover fitted up with new gasket

New exhaust studs

Powercoated top engine mounts fitted

Inlet mani and fuel rail fitted

Then for the engine to go in!

Then after work i farted about putting some of the coolant hoses on, and plugging in a few wires etc.

So that should explain most things.

The car is now on all 4 wheels, then engine runs etc etc. Got the windscreen man coming round to put the windscreen in, and bond in my perspex windows.

Then it will be ready for the MOT and some track action...........FINALLY!!!!!!

Looks like a good project. When I have the money I'd love to build something similar to compete in hillclimb/sprints! How long d'ya reckon it'll take to complete?

Looking forward to seeing the on-track efforts aswell!

- Is the exhaust a brand new item or an older one?

I bought an OMP Group N centre section, but it doesn't fit with my manifold, or back box, as you need a standard mani and the matching Group N back box.

Have a friend who works at a TopGear franchise, so he did me the centre section!!!

Track efforts so far have been fun and great, Donnington, Castle Combe and Lydden Hill.

Also, smashed my Mrs' MK6 Zetec S around track at Silverstone, and got a day at Llandow coming up on the 1st June!! biggrin

So had a few track experiences, but need a good full days worth if abuse under my belt really!! biggrin
