I bought her a couple of months ago off Ebay for £200 with Tax/MOT, LOADS of history, and the last owner who had it for 9years seemed genuinely gutted to see me take it off his hands.
It's a 518 so not particularly fast to say the least, but drives incredibly well for the age/mileage (165k)

(The 'SOTW' didn't come with it smile )

As my stripped-out Pug 106 died, I thought it would be rude not to try Helga out on track, so when Marham came up I stripped the back seats out in a token effort to save weight and hoped for the best...

It did BRILLIANTLY! The handling and sraight line speed were obviously not great but it was SO entertaining and drifted beutifuly considering it has no LSD or power! I did just over 100miles on track and got through a set of rear tyres but had no brake fade, the temp. gauge didn't move from halfway all day and managed the 200mile drive home with no issues.

Despite only buying it as a stopgap, I now love it, and can finally see the appeal of BMWs!

Thanks for reading tongue out

Nice car,
Bargain at 200 quid,
Me and my dad were going to get an e34 518i to share and for me to learn in,
They look fantastic and i think would me enough for me to manage and my dads car at the moment is only a 1.6 auto nissan note so alright for him.
Any shots of the engine bay and interior before strip?
Steve

The whole idea of spending £200 on a car and it lasting and still enjoying it is great, reminds me of the xj40 i picked up for the same amount with 5 months MOT, then scrapped it for £100, thats 4 months of purposely driving into things, never locking it and just having a laugh for £100

We demand interior pics, pics of the engine, engine note sounds, etc...

Exactly! It's so much more satisfying than having a car you are constantly worrying about. XJ40 trumps my beemer though!
I have no interior photos, it's black cloth with a very square germanic dash.
The engine bay is hilarious, the engine looks tiny and you can easily climb in! biggrin

That looks an awful lot nicer than my £200 BMW.

I would have loved an E30, they seemed to be pretty good on track. Your one does look cool smile

Yeah they have fair handling, I lowered mine because it looked stupid at the standard height and it has improved cornering somewhat. Funnily enough I've always preferred the E34, I think it harks back to my Dad's old 530i company car.

Enjoy the car though, the old M40 is rather limp at the best of times but they do just seem to keep going.

Haha. I'd quite happily swap with you, but I'd wager you don't want an auto.
