Hello there,
I have been looking at PH's for years but haven't bothered signing up until now, but anyway, here we are.
I though just to get started I would post up some pics of the cherished cars in the household, its not all of them as I have a 2005 focus as a daily driver and the better half has her 106 diesel for running around with.
With out anymore delay I give you.....

My '87 MR2

I have had this now getting on 9 years now and many times I have thought about replacing it with someting more modern, but haven't got around to it.

My good lady's summer toy

She has hsd this now for over ten years after many attempts by myself to try and get her to get something else (its a nightmare of a thing to do any work on)

I know none of them are worth very much, but I'm hoping we will be able to fit in here. Here's hoping.

Love the MR2! Rare to see such a clean original one!

The CTI is cool too - well worth hanging on to. You never see them around any more!

Lovely Mk1 MR2. Great to see that some are kept nice and not rusted away.

Lovely cars! Both quite rare too and appear in fine condition! smile

I can't remember seeing either of these cars on the road for a very, very long time. Maybe future classics!

I sorely miss my Mk1, they are awesome cars with a lot of character. I would love to do a full resto-mod on one someday, they may not be the fastest things in the world, but even if you get passed by some modern hot hatch you can guarantee you will be the guy with the biggest grin on his face! Yours looks to be in very good nick, have you done very much to it?

Thanks you guys for all your kind comments. It sounds like were all singing from the same hymn book then. Good stuff.
AWW999, yeah I have done a lot to it over the years and I dread to think what it has cost me over the years. I tell you what, I'm not going to think about it smile
I fitted the wheels and the exhaust the week I bought it back in May 2001. I then soon found out it was pretty rotten under the skirts and drastic action was needed. I saved and got it welded up and resprayed at a cost of £1750 back in 2002. This price was for me to strip the car myself and rebuild it when it was all done. I had to remake and repair numerous bits aand bobs while it was apart and a lot of the trim parts that are held on with steel strips were remade in stainless steel (lucky I'm in engineering then). Anyway all put back together. I have replaced the suspension with a Koni SSK. Its polybushed as well and I have added a couple of strut braces I made myself. I have rebuilt all the brake calipers and fitted Goodridge brake lines as well. Its also running Ferode DS something or another brake pads up front.
The interior has had a few changes. It has a set of Corbeau Targa seats fitted and a Momo steering wheel as well. I won't bore you with the stereo and all that rubbish.
The engine is pretty much stock, but too be honest I have no complaints with the 4a-ge, its an awesome engine to get the whip out on. It has done 125,000+ now and still puts out very near to stock power. It will also do, believe it or not, nearly 47 to the gallon on the Motorway at 70ish mph.
All that hard work came good last August when the car won best pre-90's and also Car of the show at the Dorset Japanese Car Show. Happy days indeed. It did upset a few skyline owners, I think.

At the moment its in the garage up on axle stands. I have a BRAND new toyota gearbox to fit to it that came up at a price that I couldn't refuse. Well, it started life as a 'rola box.

But I managed to modify the main gearbox casting to reverse the linkages so there in the right place for a MR2.

Once I have both the other halfs cars up together, I will get this put back on. I also want to pull out all the suspension and check that over as well as it had a tough time in the Scottish highlands last September. I also want to add some of that stone chip film to a few areas when I get chance. Other than that were ready to go I think.

Bored yet smile
