Finally got round to taking some photos of my car after a good clean this morning, so thought I would post them as I've been meaning to for a while! I bought it in November from DL in Swindon, probably the worst time of the year to buy a performance car but now the weather is getting better I've had some good run-outs in it!

I am planning on getting some CSLs for it as I think that will complete it looks wise, and am thinking of changing the exhaust to something that is a little louder whilst not being too intrusive. However, for the time being I am really pleased with it. Its carbon black with most options......thumbup

Woeful orange peel, though.

Is orange peel on modern cars the result of eco friendly water based paints?

Seems very common on a lot of new German cars.

I was hoping you wouldn't spot the unpolished exhausts!getmecoat

I think a good detail will probably remove the orange peel

Yep exactly right. Water based paints are the cause. The car looks great, but I would get a pro detailer on it to cut out orange peel.

I've seen some of his work in the M Power section, may have to pay him a visit soon...

Yeh, I think with CSL's and a water like reflection from the paint, on that car will look incredible smile

Nice.

I see you have the 'stubby' aerial - have you ever managed to pick up any radio station anywhere ever?

If you look closely in the photo and try and distinguish the aerial from the bushes you can see the aerial extends to nearly roof height. I was thinking of getting a stubby but like you say reception is a nightmare...

kin 'ell you're right - my eyes! Combination of last-legs laptop and bank holiday beers.

I wouldn't bother with the stubby if you like to listen to your radio rather than CDs/MP3 as the reception quality does decrease, but this is dependent on where you live/drive.

If this is like the earlier Z4 and other BMWs with this infernal external antenna, then the external antenna only gives you AM. FM is by something under the skin. Ask some folks on the Z4-forum.co.uk to be sure.

wasn't impressed with the paint on mine, it was clean an shiny, no obvious orange peel... but just not 'right'. an afternoon and 6 goes with autogleam super resin and it now sparkles.

aerials, the usual ebay ones don't work very well, but the VW ones like this work fine 99% of the time and look more OEM

the M on CSLs still rides better than the 3.0si on run flats hehe

Looks great! You get orange peel on all BMWs now - not much you can do about it besides a wet sand!
