Newbie - Current car NA MX5 Mazdaspeed Spec
Discussion
Thought I would introduce myself, my current car and car history.
The Mazdaspeed Spec B has the following extras from factory and a MS plate on the firewall.
MS Exhaust
MS Headers
MS Mechanical LSD
MS ECU
MS Engraving on the cylinder head, which I don't know means the cams are also MS?
Mine also has a Eunos Strut Brace, Cold Air Induction, braided brake lines, NB brakes, that's it I think.
Not my first MX5, this was a few cars ago
In between the MXs I had Focus ST (XR5 in Aus) and found it quick but a bit uninvolving
Previous car history from start
1973 Datsun 180B SSS (you buy what you can for a first car sometimes, at least it was rear wheel drive)
1977 Chrysler Lancer Hatch (good fun and rear wheel drive too, I hated front wheel drive early on)
1985 Mitsubishi Cordia Turbo (maybe called Tredia in UK, not sure, first 'performance car')
1985 Mitsubishi Cordia Turbo (so good I bought another after the first one was rear ended, this one modded though and pretty quick
1987 Nissan Exa (handled quite well until wheel alignment brought about epic understeer, lost interest after that)
1989 Yamaha FZR 250 (First motobike and it had to be a gp replica, great first bike 18,000rpm redline!!
1998 Kawasaki ZX7R (still on bikes at this point, fantastic road racer and will be a collectable)
1993 Holden Barina (bought after my bike was nicked and trashed by lowlife, turned out to be suprising good fun)
1998 Mazda NB MX5 (the black one above, first proper sports car, loved by me and received many compliments
2007 Honda Civic (Don't ask, trying to be sensible, married now, very good but automotive equivalent of a lobotomy, didn't last long)
1995 Nissan Micra (Bought because we needed a car quick, but has been genuinely surprising, light, bulletproof, torquey engine, great feel in steering, still have it.
2007 Ford Focus ST (great engine, great engine, great engine, slightly bland interior, a bit too heavy and compromised to excite me, but still good)
1989 Mazda MX5 (the current silver one above, very good and although I originally thought I would sell it after 6 months, I know i'd miss it so might just keep and make it the first member of my long term car collection)
Cars are pretty expensive in Australia, 15,000+ pounds for an E36 M3 anyone? so in order to keep my car addition affliction under control I need to buy things a bit cheaper hence the 89 MX, which although expensive by UK standards (around 4,500 pounds) will give me the fix i need... for now
Hope someone found this interesting

Cool- I have a Mazdaspeed supercharged, great little motor, you do have to burn those wheels tho for the good of humanity
I know the wheels are trully awful, I don't know what the person who put them on was thinking, "hmm, what goes with silver? I know, more silver!" will get on it...Nice very clean Miata - welcome
You can see mine if your interested

Why are cars so expensive in Australia
Don't know really, maybe they don't decay as quick because of the climate (no winter salt, grit etc) or maybe taxes, design rules? don't know. am thinking of leasing a shed in UK and buying things to come and enjoy on my holidays Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
